Hi Guys,
I have today collected my first bentley, admittedly a slightly cheaper one than the modern Bentleys and at a fraction of the price of its original sticker.
I have been looking for one for a long time or should I say looking at the classifieds regularly for the last couple of years. As a 80s child these cars are an icon for me as in my teenage years they were the top of the tree and the fact that good ones (I hope I have a good one) can be bought for such little amount of money seems crazy. The car is peacock blue with a great history and has just had a lot of work by colbrook specialists including a service. The car was bought from JJ Premium cars who were excellent and prepared the car very well for sale without scrimping including 4 tyres suspension to mention a couple.
The car is very good order overal butl there are some minor cosmetics that I would like to touch up but overall I am chuffed.
If there is anyone with any experience of these cars I do have a couple of new owner silly questions;
How the hell do I open the glove box
How the hell do I set the clock
Also, where should the oil pressure be when motorway driving.

If I remember correctly, Alan Clark used to have a Bentley similar to yours, but he ordered it from the factory with a few mods... like black alloys..( long before they were fashionable), and a tuned engine...

Another 80’s child here and I regularly scan the websites looking at these as well. As you say, such unbelievable cars for the money given they were the best cars in the world at the time - such class and elegance. I’d argue that the later RT’s haven’t dated much either albeit the earlier Mulsannes look very dated in comparison. Probably helps that most of the RT’s were very classy specs like yours - that colour combination is stunning. I hope it treats you well and very much look forward to the updates!
I have Spirit II very similar
solve item 1, and you can do item 2 as the clock adjuster in inside the glove box !!
My gloce box sometimes stcks BUT have you got two keys?
One will open all doors/boot/central console, but the 'service' key will only do the doors and ignition.

Thanks guys for all the positivity, reminds me of how great piston heads can be rather than bickering over pathetic crap.
Well thanks to a helpful chap on Facebook I have solved the clock and the glove box issue. Problem was I was to much of a weakling to open the darn thing, it was also a bit stuck
The car has had a lot of recent work on it by colbrook specilists including but not limited to both rear suspension struts replaced, new battery, 4 new Avon’s, new brake pads and discs all round, new park brake pads, rocker and sump tightened, replaced steering oil cooler hoses and steering pipe replaced along with some wheel arch work and interior work. The car was serviced as well. The car hasn’t been driven much for a few years so I’m using a bit to try and smoke out any gremlins.
Will try to get another 50-100 or so miles complete by end of the week. Every forum and previous/current owner is saying make sure you drive it so really trying to make sure it gets used.
One thing I have noticed is it has a fair amount of power and even with new brakes you don’t want to have to stop in a hurry as it would make me nervous if I really needed to with my limited time behind the wheel. I suppose these beasts are meant to be driven anywhere to fast just waft along and do your thing.

So little update, have driven the car a few hundred miles and the car has been great, been a little concerned about how the car would stand up to the miles as it hasnt done any miles for a few years but the car has been great and absolute occasion every time I take it out.
Couple of minor niggles that JJ Premium Cars and Kris have handled very professionally and honoured their warranty which I know is there obligation but they are underwriting it so always expect a little fight and there hasn't been any of that.
The oil pressure has been a little high during the couple hundred miles I have done so having that inspected, they are also replacing the speakers as some are faulty, also as I dropped it off there was a bit of an odour of petrol which is more of a concern so that's being inspected and then onto to have some leather + wood repaired at Colbrooks.
Now very excited to get the car back as it feels like collection all over again.
