Bentley Warranty Options £4800 (!)

I don’t want to hear “if you can’t afford to run it” type comments, this is a fundamental and £ large change of expectation.
So when I bought the Bentayga none where over 3 years, so a 4th year warranty wasn’t available but my dealer supposed it was similar to the Conti at £3200 - I can live with that.
Well I dropped me coco pops when upon asking for the 2 year deal to be told £8k or £4800 a year.
Why? They don’t know and upon ringing Bentley care they seemed genuinely surprised.i asked for an explanation.
It’s a Car Care plan warranty sold by Bentley so I tried them but they don’t sell direct to user.
Options are -
keep the cash, rely on Bentley goodwill for the next year and cross my fingers.
Get an aftermarket Warranty Direct type thing and expect to be rinsed if I need to claim.
Pay £4800
If I don’t decide before it expires it’s £700 on the £4800 for an inspection.
Right now I’m favouring an AA warranty at £1900 but am I just ripping up cash to gain a false sense of security?

You know the "if you can't afford to run it" comments that you didn't want, well....what was it you were expecting exactly, when your manufacturer's 3-year warranty ended? Am I surprised that the warranty is that much, vs a Conti? No, not really. Having had a chat with Bentley recently they seem to operate a "what we can get away with" pricing policy. They've calculated that £3200 is the very most that they can charge to keep Conti owners out of the indy network. They think that you'll pay £4800, but £4950 will send you scurrying to a decent indy on an ad hoc basis, or otherwise a cheaper insurer.
If you bought a new one, you'd get a new warranty. But if you really MUST drive an older car [holds nose] then unfortunately you will be faced with the very dilemma that has cost you half a box of coco pops.
Given that Bentaygas seem to be depreciating slightly faster than secondhand underpants you might take the view that not buying warranty or servicing from Bentley is wise. But will you still enjoy the car if you know that you might have to pay for its repair?
With regard to other insurers. You know very well that across 100 Bentleys they are going to end up winning. What is £1900 REALLY going to buy you? You're a smart chap, you know that the small print will limit their liability.
They're discounting new Bentaygas heavily at the moment, I gather. If you like the car perhaps buy a new one and get 3 years warranty "free". Otherwise, I'd self insure.
Fair enough can’t argue but feel I ripped off. Luckily I got a truly amazing deal on the car and the demand for older ones is so high that I wouldn’t lose so much if I punted it - but I like it and will do a year relying on goodwill and a £5k emergency fund.
Pity this has arisen as I’m really happy with it, even servicing is “reasonable”

I like it though just a bit aggrieved. After this I’m thinking electric next when the new biz can sustain it.

The GTC is a risk, the roof mechanism looks frightening, but my old V12 was rock solid in that department so I keep my fingers crossed.My wife drives this one, apart from the batteries it’s been very reliable, possibly a more mechanically mature model after so many years?
I had to change the key fob battery recently, I thought that was part of the service schedule, bloody tricky too.
The Bentayga is just over 12 months old and has had 3 trips back to the dealer already so not sure I’d run that without one.
£350 for 150,000 mile or 5 year warranty on my daily, and yet it was nearly 50% of the cost of the Bentley, so yeah they are ripping the arse out of you on warranty pricing at Bentley.

My understanding is that the warranty on the Conti is cheaper due to the older tech in it.
When I was looking at a Bentaga I was told that if you prang it in a car park dent and one of the cameras goes wonky, it then requires a full day setting it back up so the systems work together - that's going to cost for example.
As soon as the newer Contis are old enough to be out of warranty you can bet their prices will increase too!

It’s a Q8 underneath (engine apart), I needed to get the tracking checked / done Bentley wanted £890 Audi £150 same machine, same suspension.
The 48v suspension system is hugely complex and unique to the B but it’s also on a Q8 (granted I don’t know the cost of a Q8 extended warranty).
I accept the Bentayga is complex but that shouldn’t be passed on to owners, they should man up and have more consistency.
The warranty is more than any other Bentley model.
