Hi everyone need some help with my Bentley tr driving it last night when all of a sudden the car alarm came on the engine died and I rolled to a stop I turned the key fop off and on and the alarm went off I started the engine in ran for a few seconds but was lumpy also the car alarm came on again and then died I tried it once again and then I lost all electrical power I could smell electrical smell I have it home now with the help of a break down truck I’ve checked all fuses there’s nothing that stands out no melted wires that I can see but definitely smelt of something smoldering when the car stopped my question is there a main fuse from the battery or any ideas where to start thank you Roy

Could be low battery voltage and/or alternator not charging battery.

I borrowed a TR a couple of weeks ago and with the cold weather, the car was very sensitive to battery condition.

Does the '89 still have an ammeter shunt? On earlier cars the connections (on the engine side of the firewall directly above the steering column on right-hand-drive cars) would corrode and then heat up from the resistance, melting the connectors.
