Bought a Bentayga
Discussion
After having a 2 car system of SUV and convertible I realised the rag top had done 300 miles in 6 months! So I decided to have one nicer car, my 2013 Range Rover is for sale and the BMW convertible is now sold. I did fancy a Conti SS but I knew I wouldn't use it enough.
I gave myself a "ish" budget of £1k a month which is virtually what I was currently spending, first choice was a Levante but it wasn't special enough (in my opinion), looked at a Stelvio (fast but same argument) if I am having one car I want it to wow me.
Looked at RRS SVR with latest telematics and RR same but all £1700 + due to high depreciation, I had never considered a Bentayga due to cost the autotrader headline prices were mostly £2k a month but I noticed on the Bentley site a blue Bentayga reduced from £112 to £99.9 blue and ivory are my favourite colours and it looked lovely, I was not aware of essential specs and I missed something that may come back to haunt me (more later on that), it had comfort seats heated and cooled and chrome grills, 22" wheels (!) it seemed very nice but I was unsure what the monthly would be or indeed the APR.
Quick call to the dealer and they came back in a flash at £1k with a reasonable deposit, asked why it was so "cheap" they were using 5.9% and a higher residual which gives me some protection I guess.
I didn't haggle but I did get a boot liner and as predicted the sunglasses holder in the pictures had been stolen when it was taken off sale - they have ordered another on a 6 week lead time matched to my veneers (!) I doubt I`ll use it but it was included and |I want it.
Its 2016 with 35k on a W12, my vanity wants it on my private plate before collection which is fine so I have insured it already and it should be done before month end (I am in no hurry as I want to sell the RR privately).
My spec error - I am 5' 6" and drop the RR to access mode every time I get out, on Bentayga with advanced off road the access mode is a button next to the terrain dial, mine doesn't have this its set on the touch screen and I fear this will be a 3 or 4 stage ball ache every time I stop - anyone know about this?
So far dealer has been very good and I will update once collected, this has blown my previous highest purchase (a DB9 at 2.5 years) by £40k but you only live ONCE!

I bought a V8 Bentayga 3 months ago now.
Aside from a couple of electrical gremlins that seem to have sorted themselves out, it has been faultless.
Most of my journeys are inside the city conurbation so it's just perfect for wafting along in traffic. Really moves as well...the W12 must be like a rocket ship.
My dealer told me that very few are specced with the off road pack...mine drops ever so slightly in sport ,mode, maybe try that before getting out?

Picked it up and lovely handover, lots of time and I headed into the traffic nervously back to Wirral.
Battery charger boot Mat inc and the missing glasses holder on order. Car was prepared 95% perfect but see pic for one error I only noticed a day later!
No service book nor any car related stuff apart from the manual and mini manual and breakdown info - should I not have a service book?
Got 24mpg on way home, now 18mpg round town which is brilliant my cayenne did 12 round town.

Looks very nice.
How high is it in terms of entry, trying to convince my 5' 2" wife that she would have no issues getting in and out of one.
Not as high as a RR but note - it has access drop mode to help BUT on the ones without advanced off road (icons on suspension rotary) like mine then to drop it you press car on touch screen then drop on next screen and it’s a faff but on the ones WITH advanced off road it’s a dedicated button to the right of the rotary / I wish I knew this pre purchase. It’s still easy to get in as comfort access can drop the seat.

OK. But how does it work on the WITH cars the other way (ie getting in). Is it a function on the key or do you have to open the door and then press the button? If open, then press it's a little disappointing: if via the fob it might be a very easy hack to add the functionality to your key? It’s still easy to get in as comfort access can drop the seat.
ADP - it’s a pcp I can buy it for the MGFV after 4 years, hand it back or sell privately and pocket any equity.
Note the warranty is now transferable!!!
VOLD - this is a ball ache literally for any car without the off road pack. With the pack you have a physical drop button like a RR and it stays dropped so getting back in is no issue.
DOOFUS - My valet guy is under strict instructions - so far so good.

They have been for some time, but the warranty is only transferable if a private sale and not via a dealer, plus only if it's got something like a minimum of 90 days left on it. Note the warranty is now transferable!!!
ETA: Lovely car DS!

Cracking looking thing DS.
I've a real soft spot for these and you appear to have gone for exactly how I'd want one.
It was the cheapest car on sale in the UK, was at a dealer with 12m warranty and had low rate % with a fair residual. It was impossible not to buy it for £1049 when RR were more.I've a real soft spot for these and you appear to have gone for exactly how I'd want one.
Yes its a bit leggy on 34k miles but I only do 5k a year it will level out.

Had it a few months now and I think it’s best described as a Q7 with premium interior and a big petrol engine. It just doesn’t feel overall premium enough.
I had a deisel from new I’m March last year, and luckily managed to sell it after 10k miles in October for only a 5k loss (due to them closing the line for 6m). I thought it was epic, but I bought a 2016 GT as a stop gap and it made me realise it didn’t feel Bentley enough. It wasn’t bad....just didn’t have that je nes sais quois Gassing Station | Bentley & Rolls Royce | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
