Does anyone know how much refrigerant my car takes as the label says 1.9kg but that seems too much surely and I can't find anything in the handbook?

I don’t have an answer but hadn’t you sold this car? Or second thoughts and kept it? yes

There should be a label under the bonnet and if it says 1.9kg, that's what it is if you were using R12 which was what the car was designed for. As you're going to likely be going back with R134a which runs at a higher pressure. You probably want 10-20% less and will need to charge by pressure.

Make sure that the system has been converted, the oil used in R12 systems does not mix with R134a.

Yes I have sold it this was the last issue and the guy who normally does my AC on my other cars thought it was too much. It hasn't been converted.

It is what the label says. A car is like a big green house and the a/c. Something the size of an SZ car would likely need the equivalent of a 5 ton home a/c system. On the positive side of things, I live in Texas and while my Corniche has been converted to R134a, it can still turn your fingers blue in 110 degree weather
