My father bought new in 1989 from Dutton Forshaw in Preston (then Rolls Royce dealers) a Silver Spirit 2 that unfortunately due to health reasons he didn't use a great deal. He passed away in 2004 and for a few years before that it only went in for its Mot so it's only done 20k miles My mother did not want the car selling whilst she was alive and sadly she left us in November last year. So I had to move the car to my place as my mums is up for sale. I went with a pal of mine who restores ETypes we put on a new battery new fuel then took the wire off the coil and turned it over just to be safe. Then wire back on and the 2nd turn over of the 1st try with the key it fired into life and idled sweet as a nut! We blew the tyres up and took it down the drive and back. We had to put some oil in the hydraulics for the ride height the drivers seat won't move back and forward, the drivers window isn't working and the AC needs a regas. Other than that it's spot on! Just had it professional detailed inside and out.... My dad would have been proud of it!

"AC needs a regas"

I'd be very surprised if it holds the gas in after all this time ,the seals will be toast.

Fair shout I have an experienced Jaguar/Rolls mechanic going through the car top to bottom sorting out anything he finds as he goes along.

Do you intend keeping it?

I don't have any room for it so I put it up for sale and sold it for £23k (well taken a 10% deposit) I thought it was worth at least £30k but soon realised that was not the case. I didn't realise they were valued so low compared to other classic cars... I know a totally different kettle of fish but a good TR6. V8 MGB GT and even early Escorts are worth more!.... I had to fix the drivers leccy window just taking off the door card showed the quality and craftsmanship of its build quality..... Especially compared to other classics I've restored.
