Hello
I have a 1989 Bentley eight that won`t start. !!!
I drove it into the garage before xmas and tried to start it yesterday with no joy .
There is no spark at the plugs but I am getting 12 volts at the coils.
Any suggestions ????

Could be any one of a number of things, immobiliser would be my first thought, check distributor cap and rotor arm.

Not sure if its the same system as in my 1980 T2, but I had a similar issue last year. Distributor cap and leads changed and ignition system changed to a Pertronics system at the advice of Nigel Sandell. Runs better than ever now!

Thanks for comments
I am not getting a spark from HT leads that feed distributer caps.
I have checked rotars and they are turning but when I put a test lamp on coil I`m getting a constant 12v and not a broken signal.
Could it be ECU ?????

Always check the Engine management relay. If it fails - and they do - the engine will not start.

But I would check with an expert before committing, as it's an expensive relay.

Or test it - if you know how to properly test a relay (you'll need a multimeter and a 12v supply). You can look it up on you tube, how to test a relay.

(it's only a tenner on the later cars I'm afraid!!)
