My 2008 GT had its 10 year service yesterday .

The car has covered just over 23,000 miles.

The technician who carried out the work pointed out that the front tyres appeared to be the originals , and that due to age the side walls were beginning to crack. Whilst not dangerous at this stage he advised that I should consider replacing them.

The tyres on the car are Pirelli P Zeros.

I confess to never having been a great fan of Pirelli tyres insofar as I find that when partly worn they generate a lot of road noise and do not perform very well on wet roads .

On other high end cars I have been lucky enough to own , 3 Porsches/Lamborghini/Audi R8's , I have always fitted Michelin Pilot Sports which in my view are far superior to Pirellis.

My concern is that Michelin do not specifically recommend their tyres for the Continental GT which raises the issue of the weight of the car .

Has anyone fitted Michelins to their GT and if so how did they perform ?

I have to say I agree 100% these Pirelli pzeros are utter rubbish had them forcibly on the Murci, then the GTC had these tyres on it when i bought it , nearly understeered off in to a hedge doing 20mph in the wet . Hateful hateful tyre, replaced them with the Dunlop Sport Maxx XLs and it was like night and day , no tyre roar or that annoying resonance at 60mph........wet and dry grip were leagues ahead of the Pirelli , and caining the arse out it in the summer cross country, they held up extremely well ,didnt drop off when hot, ride quality was much better and utter silence on the motorway, just as a Bentley should be . Wear rate was very good as well put 9000miles on it and lost 1.5mm in the process. £670 for the set , i would suggest you get a full laser geo setup done though. Definitely worth considering if the Michies don't work out .
