Arnage R Seat too high
Discussion
My father in law has recently bought himself a 2003 Arnage R, but is finding getting in and out a bit of a struggle. He’s 80 and has slightly restricted mobility due to a combination of age related stiffness and a back injury.
Even on the lowest setting the seats seem quite high. I’ve tried it myself and to get past the steering wheel (which is in the correct fully raised/retracted position) you have to get your bum on the seat and then swivel round to get your legs under the steering wheel. No real problem for me, but for the FIL it’s far from ideal.
He previously had a Turbo R and didn’t have any issues with that at all. Yes, he should have thoroughly tested the Arnage before buying it, no he didn’t, water under the bridge now, etc.....
The supplying dealer (a Bentley/RR specialist) has suggested there is a seat modification that can be done to lower the seating position. Unfortunately FIL is very hazy on the details and I can’t find anything on google, so thought I’d ask the PH hive mind
TL;DR - Anyone know of any fixes/changes to lower the seating position on the Arnage?

Try this thread which deals with seat extenders.

I am surprised that seat height is the problem. I assume that you have already used the seat controls to the maximum and that they are not reverting to a preset stored setting which retains seat, steering wheel and mirror positions.
You can also try adjusting the lumbar support which is the two buttons on the side of the seat.

I am 6ft 4" tall and weigh 210lbs with an artificial hip. I have plenty of room in my 2002 Arnage T other than leg room which is a known fault. My height setting is not as low as it will go.
My only thought is that the steering wheel is set too low. If you get in the car and when you turn on the ignition the steering wheel comes down then it needs resetting.
Other than that let us know where you are as I am sure a good Indie will fix this for you easily.

I am sure you won't be surprised to hear that some of these left the factory with specific seat configurations for the drivers seat to the original owners size, it may have been the first owner was on the small side and had the seat mountings made specific for him/her, I know when I ordered my wife's Azure back in 2002 we had the seat mountings adjusted at the factory as she felt she was sitting too low so effectively the car was tailored specifically for her.
