Can I ask for some advice please ?

I took delivery of a 2008 Continental GT 3 days before Christmas.

The car has just 20,000 miles on it , sapphire blue with magnolia /blue interior , and virtually mint , with a full main dealer service history.

I propose to use the car at weekends only, weather permitting.

Having done a little research prior to purchasing the car , I am aware that the issue of keeping batteries in a full state of charge can be problematical in cars which have little use .

In consequence I purchased a genuine Bentley battery conditioner which came boxed with a carrying case from e bay . The device has never been used.

I was disappointed to discover however that the connection on the conditioner which is a round disc , did not match the socket in the boot of my car which has two slots and threading on the outside.

Can anyone point me towards any electrical firm that could supply the correct plug which I could then solder on to the conditioner ?

I have attached a photo of the socket .

I currently have a C Tek conditioner attached to the left hand battery terminal by means of crocodile clips , but as you will know necessitates the removal of the panel to gain access .

Thus connected does the conditioner keep both batteries charged ?

The Bentley chargers are only re badged Ctek chargers . Just find a plug and lead which fits the socket and then put an adapter to a Ctek charger. The Ctek is £100+ cheaper than the badged one,

Thank you for your reply.

I rang Bentley Hampshire this afternoon. They are the nearest main dealer to me in Plymouth.

The parts chap told me he could not supply the plug which I need to fit the socket .

I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction to source the plug.

Looks like a TE Connectivity 3 series.
Take a look through this list https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/connectors/circular...
You’ll need to get your ruler out and check the dimensions. And don’t forget to buy the pins - they’ll be sold separately

If you can find a part number, you *may* find someone on eBay selling a pre-wired one with tails that may be easier to use if you don’t have a suitable crimp tool.

Here are some pictures of mine. The body is marked 206426-1 which appears to be this one although I cannot see where the terminals come from but perhaps some electrical whizz kid will know.

When I got my 2004 launch modal last year it came without its charger .
Like most owners it’s a 2nd / 3 rd car etc .
I wired up an “ accumate “ conditioner to the bus bars ( without disconnect) to the LHS bat .
I realise the starter is the RHS one. But the OEM socket wires go to the RHS anyhow .
Thus far it’s been fine at maintaining battery power .
I also have a solar panal ( Maplins ) and via the open ski hatch can plug it in and sit it on the rear parcel shelf @ airports etc .
Thus far all ok .
Max time unused is 4 months - fired up immediately.
It’s currently in Switzerland until April ( winter tyres on ) we have great mountain railways and the car often sits dormant for a few days - so I plug it in - so far so good .
I did look @ eBay with a view to buying a male connector, but gave up .

Here you can see the wire from the umbilical attached to the bus bars

Looked @ Aston’s but needed 4WD and the 2+2 is occasionally handy for short trips
It’s really good in the snow with straight 50-50 split 4WD —— so silly e diffs 8uggering up the drive - sending it all over - usually to the wrong end - or shutting down the throttle.

Have a look on EBay. There’s usually a few genuine Bentley maintainers on there brand new of both socket types.

I’ve picked up the two I use for about £120 each which isn’t too much more than a standard CTek 7.

Maybe sell your other one?

I think you can also buy CTEK fly leads to the Bentley socket.

I strongly suggest fitting an inline fuse close to the positive clip, the cables can become brittle with age or cold and short out. If it shorts out the cables become red hot.

Just seen this happen to a friends Jaguar, luckily he escaped with a flat battery and scorched bumper/boot carpet.

Folks, thank you all for your input, particularly Paul ( Welsh Bentley Boy ) .

I purchased the correct plug and pins from Farnells for just over £30.

http://uk.farnell.com/?CMP=KNC-GUK-PFB-phrase&...

Parts fitted to the Bentley charger/maintainer this afternoon , now up and running.

Thank you once again.
