Hi ,
I had Check Engine Light - CEL come on .
Bit confusing as it was straight after I topped up the oil level ,I did not replace the filler cap tightly ,so after checking that and the petrol filler I desconcted both batteries to cancel the CEL
It worked ,then the rear spoiler light stayed on and the spoiler stoped working - buttons and exceeding 70 , —— caput .
I googled it the spoiler and there’s not much , only a fractured “ tube “ thingy .
So I dismantled the rear boot cover inside and unplugged it ,replugged it and it worked for a bit .

CEL then came back on after a week or so — arghh !
So I did a re set via disconnected batts , then the spoiler light came on , that packed up arrghhh .
So going round in effing circles — don,t you just love tech on cars ?
CEL came back on , as all I was doing is just cancelling it ,not sorting the fault out

Loadsa Googling later ,off to Euro car parts for a £19.99 On Board Diagnostic 11 reader .

Plugged it in followed the easy enough instructions P1924 , comes up - only one code / fault .
You have to google Bentley codes ,
It’s the MAF , or thermostat ground short .
So pulled the black hose off the ( stood at the front bonnet open facing to the rear looking in )
Of the RHS MAF in front of the air box , sprayed WD 40 in wiped with tissue ,
Started up with the pipe off ( air filter bypassed )
Bingo - CEL goes out — Rev it up , spray a bit more WD 40 in Its throat.
Refix the air pipe - job done —— just turns out a sticky MAF , butterfly.

How ever the rear spoiler light still on ( from the multiple batt disconnects)
Hmm , more googling , more removal of the boot hatch liner , more WD 40 , motor removed ,
Mr Google suggests new motor or broken wire on that part of the looms , it’s the one at the right hinge , can’t see a broken wire ,
Bentley part rumoured £340 not sure if that’s plus vat too —- eek .
How ever same part as VW Beetle GT spoiler motor £50 on e- bay , looks identical .
Webasto generic part .

Ran out of time ran out of day light - I give up .Next MOT / service is 11 months away - so I’ll wait me thinks ,- let my local techies 70 miles away fix it then .

How ever today approx 12 starts later from the last batt disconnection, —- low and behold I start up , light flashes ,and the spoiler pops up and slams down while I,am putting my seatbelt on ........ light goes out .
140 mike trip today. Some motorway — no warning lights - spoiler works as it should .

So what have I learnt —- put the oil filler cap back on tight . Or if loose = CEL
Don,t over fill - oil or poss end up with oil in the MAF , = sticky butterfly = CEL
Don,t disconnect the batts for a CEL re set ——- it’s 8uggers up the rear aero foil

Get a OBD 11 to clear fault codes - easy to use .

In summary , there was nowt wrong with it. I think I just added a bit too much , not that much ,but enough new oil to c9ck it up .
Set off a whole chain of events .

Bring back a moggy 1000 -

Just adding a bit more.
Wife’s been shopping @ Morrison’s and coming home with 10 p off / L fuel vouchers ,so I’ve been filing up there .
Thing is there’s only 95 RON fuel .
Two fill ups and a previously filled 95 @ Tesco , predated all this CEL stuff .

It came on again the other day. I used a dog nappy sack ( thin poly sheet ) to reinforce the fillercap seal - no effect .
We are off to Switzerland so I purposely topped up ( about added 50 L ) of BP 97. Then fully topped up 70 L of Shell of 97
Low and behold — some 350 miles later on 97 the CEL spontaneously went off .

Tinternet is pretty useless for code P1924 , depends which site you look @
It’s all modal dependent.

I also pumped out 1 pint of oil before setting off .

So conclusions
1- over filled oil fumes have contaminated the sensors in the inlet side - excess crank vapour ?? - somthing along those lines .

2- carp - supermarkets fuel , just too many times on the bounce - cocked some sensor or another up . crappy supermarket s don,t do 97 RON

Any how I,ve not rushed out to a dealer - as the car felt and drove fine with CEL on .

Ps we fit winter tyres for trips to Switzerland btw .
Actually more softer and quiet than the B1 Pirelli P zeros ,but only rated to 150 mph , not 196 + ——— no biggie as rarely exceed 90 anyhow

It is after all called a “ Continental GT “

8331 P1923 Engine control module (ECM) 2 – malfunction Trouble code(s) stored

– P1924 Engine control module (ECM) 1/2, pin coding – impl usible signal - - ECM

Just to assist others with a P1924 CEL
Above is from the VAG / Com system .
Here in Switzerland I’ve put 98 RON in and the CEL light went out on it’s own

Not sure what exactly “ implausible signal” means ?
As said ^^^ car has run fine with the CEL ( code P1924 on ) I fact no detectable difference with it off .

Googling has unearthed a possible remap for more power in the past has been done ?

Any offers of an explanation gratefully received
