What are peoples thoughts?

I don't really see a great departure of design?
Digital dashes and more bespoke designs available, am I missing something?

Oh and a Purported £400k price tag rofl

I saw the new Phantom at a preview at Old Billingsgate in London in early April. To my eyes it is significantly more handsome than the outgoing model and hides its bulk better - in the flesh it seems much less slab-sided with a definite tapering at the rear reminiscent of the old Silver Clouds. I was pretty impressed. The interior is lovely too. The range is effectively two models, a saloon and an extended saloon.

The curvature of the front wing edges is very reminiscent of the 103EX concept. Its more a design development on an existing theme set from the MkVII platform but not an design evolution and perhaps not overtly cohesive in its totality as a result.

It seems a bit odd still keeping the 6.75 but adding twin turbo's and even with the aluminium space frame the weight being so high at 2600kg. I know they want lots of low down torque but how much does a 6.75 weigh with turbo's? The new BMW M5 will have have more power and similar torque from a lighter 4.4 twin turbo.

I think this car is not flattered in photo's, rather like it is trying too hard, however it might look better in the flesh.

The price is eyewatering and seems to be judged on how much can we get people who have a lot of money to pay for the best in the world?

Fantastic as I am sure it is, as a car, I still can't accept these cars are real Rolls Royce and anything more than a tribute to the brand.

For me Rolls Royce cars ceased production in 2002 when Rolls Royce & Bentley Motor Cars Limited stopped making Rolls Royce cars and changed it's name to Bentley Motors Limited - the company being able to trace it's roots back (via the de-merger in 1971), to Charles Rolls and Henry Royce.

Unfortunately BMW Rolls is just a new start up with a licence to use the brand. I suppose the only glimmer of authenticity is in the fact that BMW are authorised by Rolls Royce PLC (which itself can trace it's roots right back to Charles Rolls and Henry Royce) to make a Rolls Royce branded car.

The new Mini being the same of course, now gone far beyond it's roots, and also owned by BMW of course.

Shame BMW did not buy TVR !
