Rolls Royce Ghost
Discussion
Suspect a mod may shift this to the Rolls section, but it is posted here deliberately in Supercars to try and gauge the views of people with a supercar mentality.
Do you own, or owned, a Rolls Royce Ghost? Or any other similar modern Roller, like a Phantom. Either as a first, second, third or whatever car. Any good? Reliability? Parts availability and costs? Too big in town or country? Anything else to be aware of? Do people still associate Rollers with Liberace, Jimmy Savile, and naff weddings?
Reason for asking -- the Ghost is starting to look good value, is fairly fast, and has good road presence.
All thoughts welcome. Good or otherwise.

In terms of image, a Bentley Mulsanne , 2nd iteration Brooklands or Flying Spur are far more stylish and elegant than a Ghost IMHO. It is also far more likely that malicious damage will occur to a Rolls than a Bentley....
A Mulsanne Speed is also a great drivers'car, suprisingly chuckable for something so large... I had a Ghost for a couple of years. They are extremely quick and a reasonably good drive over twisty B roads. As you'd expect they are also a lovely and quiet motorway cruiser (though not Phantom levels of refinement in that regard). My issue with it is that it wasn't that well put together. Some plasticky bits of trim and a few bits and pieces falling off the interior. Can't say I miss it.

Thanks.Did it break down a lot? Or reliable? Parts prices reasonable or eye-watering?

It never broke down. Mechanically it was absolutely fine. But the seat controllers for both the front and rear seats kept falling off, bits of trim in the front came away and the boot release mechanism broke. There were some other minor things too. None of it was especially dramatic but when you spend that kind of money on a new Rolls Royce you're entitled to expect better. The dealer dealt with everything under warranty and IIRC the first 2 or 3 years services were free so I can't say whether parts were expensive or not.Did it break down a lot? Or reliable? I have a Ghost and it is reliable. It drives like it is much smaller than it is. It is based on a BMW long wheel base 7 series. BMW being the driving machine. The car is very quiet and rides very smoothly. I think that the paint on my Bentley is better and the leather in my Aston smells better. That said it is actually fun to drive.
