Rolls Royce Wraith - wonderful!
Discussion
Maybe I'm just behind the times and hadn't noticed, or maybe because I can't afford one I've never looked hard enough at them, but this car is absolutely stunning ! The front view must be one of the best on any car today, the rear is great too, the only fly in the ointment is the rear side view which looks a bit like a Morris Marina Coupe, which is good in my view but probably not for a modern car The interior is just beautiful, similar touches to older Rolls Royce cars but very modern.
Rolls Royce have a pretty poor web site and some poor choice of colour combinations imho, either two tone (is this 2016 or 1916 ?) and lime green, which I don't imagine appeals to anybody. https://www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com/en-GB/wraith....
But when you look at a used car which was specified by a customer, it's just stunning --> http://www.brittle.co.uk/listing/wraith-v12-6-6-17...
There are so many SUV style vans these days and ugly cars and utility cars, it's nice to see one which is built for comfort and speed alone.

Saw a few at Geneva a couple of years ago, very impressive vehicle.
As ever with a Rolls they're entirely subject to the owner's colour/wheel choices either making them a dreadful slice of rapper vulgarity, or a respectable waft wagon.
ETA: Non-drug dealer colours.

22 of them on Auto Trader. I love it in this shade of blue.

I think the standard one looks really ugly from quite a few angles but I really do like the new Black edition which is out soon.
Great vid on it here from Mr JWW

The 1 percent and their off spring have been sporting vulgar taste in automotive specifications since the birth of aftermarket body kits for supercars, innit. As ever with a Rolls they're entirely subject to the owner's colour/wheel choices either making them a dreadful slice of rapper vulgarity, or a respectable waft wagon.

I was lucky enough to go on a RR factory tour recently and be taken for a spin in a Wraith. A few months earlier I went out in a Bentley Continental which is the nearest luxury car I can compare it with. The Wraith I believe is supposed to be the more sporty model in the range. The experience was not quite as surreal I recall going in my mate's Dad's Shadow when I was a teenager. The Shadow experience was all about wafting and sliding around on the leather seats and worrying about dirtying the lambswool rugs. The Wraith felt quite tight and growled under full throttle. The overriding impression is about attention to detail. Some of the paint combinations are really attractive particularly silver over blue/black. Even if I had the money I am not sure I'd be drawn to this car. Mostly due to sheer bulk. Interesting that the computer reckoned we had done 18mpg during the 40 minutes test drive. Quite impressive I thought.
I've been most fortunate in being able to drive a Wraith, it was a brilliant, magnificent experience. The performance is suitably mighty, but so serene as well - it never feels like the numbers on paper, but it would be wrong for it to feel explosive or energetic. The acceleration does tail off notably at higher speeds, possibly a long ratio in the gearbox or simply Rolls saying "that's quite enough sir, anymore speed would be most unbecoming". You can hustle them and they don't react badly to enthusiastic cornering (most unlike a Mulsanne!), however it seems more suited to a relaxed but progressive approach, using the torque and maintaining composure.
The view down the bonnet and the way it pitches as you bury the throttle is a truly unique experience. As are the doors - although I found that getting out the back (which had huge amounts of space - opposite of a Conti GT) was so easy with the door wide open, with the door only a bit open it was a real struggle. There were one or two details amiss and the infotainment was very clearly re-skinned BMW, but all totally forgivable for the sense of occasion you get when driving. Oh - the starlight headlining - sounds like a gimmick, but at night it's awesome in my opinion anyway, I would have it every time.
It really makes you smile, it really makes you feel good, not at all in a smug way mind, or holier-than-thou. And of course everyone stares - it has huge presence even in a muted colour - it avoids the bulk that pushes into vulgarity (a la Phantom). If my numbers came up on the lottery, it wouldn't be my first purchase, but I'd spend much happy time choosing between it and a Dawn (the latter's only negative being I'm not sure I'd want people to be able to see me).

A friend of ours worked at the RR factory for a while. I was never really a fan but having been around the factory (on the family fun day) and having a few rides in various models I'm starting to like them, like others have said I've never really paid any attention to them. For the record I doubt I'll ever be able to afford one!!
RR put some of their employees on their special driving test that allows them to use cars. Our friend got chosen to take the Wraith. You have to take it for a minimum number of miles and I was quite surprise how many miles the Wraith actually had on it. I think the idea is to play with all the button and (in effect) try to break it, this being better than a customer car breaking.

Sat in one of these about nine months ago. I can't really describe the feeling of being in there - it was like being in some kind of bubble where everything else just melted away. It was a surreal feeling. I wouldn't want a car that large but I'd be hard pressed to resist parting with my cash if I were ever to find myself in possession of the prerequisite level of wealth.
