Great. Was this the car recently at the Classic car event at Alexander Palace? The same car or type of car was on the stand of an Essex based dealer - One of the most beautiful cars of the show.

There is a firm called Petersens who recreated about 5 of them!!

One was being auctioned at Amelia Island in March. Listed at $550k-650k but did not sell

Isn't there a question mark (quite a strong one) as to whether he actually used this, Gurney Nutting bodied car, for the Blue train race? and that he may well have used a different Bentley with different coachwork. And there isn't any way of proving one way or the other?

There seem to be quite a few about. Some are admitted recreations but it would be interesting to identify the original.

There was a programme on Channel 4 last night called "Million Pound Motors" and there was a blue train Bentley replica that appeared in the programme and it was almost certainly the one that was at Alexander Palace. The Salesman actually sold it on the programme for £350,000 to a lady who gave it to her husband for a fiftieth birthday present! This was despite the salesman knowing absolutely nothing about the car or any of the others in stock, not knowing how to start it and running out of petrol on the test drive!
His boss however bought a German collection for 8.2 million euros and sold it the same day for 10 million euros.
Happy Christmas

The car that they sold in the programme is now back up for sale so the husband must have returned it

Or the whole thing was just a publicity gimmick?

I saw that programme last night and my wife asked me why do all top end classic car dealers try to appear eccentric - some more so than others, but the dealer on the programme made me cringe

No question mark, it's a known, the blue train car was a boggo D back Mulliner, he didn't take delivery of the Sportsman Coupe until two months after the race.

Thanks Balmoral. You are quite right. I started a similar thread on the RREC thread under General Discussion and one respondent produced a plethora of articles proving the point conclusively.

By the way, how are you? Long time no post!

Nice clip although I would have thought a murderous few hours in London traffic.

It crossed my mind, that an updated car along those lines could be spectacular, I love the side profile and the sideways rear seat.

Channel 4 re ran the programme last night. I looked on Vintage and Prestige web site and it is still for sale at £380,000
