Hi I've just become the owner of a 1994 Continental R and I'm spending time getting used to its little foibles (mineral oil levels etc etc) but what a car! I now find that the acc position on the ignition switch doesn't seem to switch on the accessories, but before I get involved in wiring diagrams and stick my head under the bonnet had anyone got any idea of what the problem might be? Any suggestions gratefully received and BTW a really interesting forum and a great help already.
Regards........ davidtee

I think it is only for the stereo system

On mine, the ACC position will activate the stereo and electric seats, possibly one or two other things. But not windows, or cigar lighters. I cant check at the moment, but can if you want me to.

Thanks chaps, yes I think you are right Matt. My manual says it operates seat heaters, seat and mirrors adjustment, wipers, audio trip odometer and battery symbol. It seemed to work OK a few of weeks ago so I think it's time to have a fiddle and a poke around. Thanks again both for responding

I think the issue with the ACC position on the ignition switch is becoming a problem. I left the the battery off the trickle charger to see how long I could leave it and after a week it was completely flat and wouldn't even accept the trickle feed. I've just changed the battery and everything is working again except the ACC position but the trickle charger is staying on bulk charge rather than trickle. I think this may indicate a electric problem somewhere possible through the this switch. Any ideas???
Thanks for any thoughts or feedback....

I just don't know enough about the electricals to suggest anything here - you may have to approach a good independent specialist on this. The obvious thing would be that the switch unit itself has a problem - but that may be too obvious..But the switch unit is relatively easy to access if you wanted to test it - but you'll need a meter for this.

I'm assuming everything works when the key is at RUN?

Thanks Matt yes everything else appears to be fine. Happy to hear that the switch is accessible and so that's the weekend sorted then.
