As many of us have realized, certain parts and defects are known with various models from Bentley. Since the factory refuses to recognize these known defects, we are working on a plan. Please see www.6speedonline.com/forums/bentley/348012-driver-...

Thanks for your time and consideration, as the factory is well-aware of these known problems yet continues to charge customers for their manufacturing defects.

Wish you all the best on that, hopefully settle pre-court.
You should achieve 80% of aims.
I have been party to USA class actions and negotiation is key.
Unfortunately the Continental GT and GTC will be classics if you wait for a judge to decide.

Rob (and everyone), thanks and we all know the problems. Please chime in on the thread at 6speed if you had problems with the 3rd brake light, false air/engine removal, fuzzy center screen, etc.

Why buy a car you cannot afford to run? Just pay for the repair and get on with your life!

The repairs are long paid for. What we are discussing are known common defects the factory knows about yet refuses to recognize as such.

I don't understand your problem.

You have an older car, are presented with an expensive repair bill, and then feel you have a reason to complain. I don't get it!

Have you any idea how much more expensive, proportionately, parts are for some of the cheapest vehicles when they go wrong?

I have some sympathy with you but only because I suspect you are in the USA, where even in 2014 your great nation has failed, utterly; to produce a single motor car of quality.

As i said, the repair bill is long paid for. Common problems with cars of such low milage... Perhaps one expects quality customer service when they invest in a luxury vehicle. Sad that Hyundia offers better warranty, though have no desire to procure one. Agree that most USA cars have not been stellar, though they are getting better. I hear the Ford hot hatch is quite popular in the UK and the new Corvette looks interesting. Then again the quality and modern technology within the new Mercedes is seriously impressive.

Thanks for chiming in, it is always interesting to read the current viewpoint from other countries i have spent quite a bit of time within yet have not revisited for various reasons.

By the way, it seems there are also perceived possible deception concerning Bentley's CPO warranty here in the States, though the UK may have far better truth in advertising laws unlike those within the USA.

I think that's a bit harsh - there have been some great cars from the USA.

But I do think, these days, people can be very unreasonable on manufacturers. These are very complex pieces of kit, a warranty is supplied of 3 years, or whatever it is, and outside of that time & mileage period, if something goes wrong, it's tough st, in my view.

Saying this, stuff failing as soon as a car is out of warranty, or apparently because it is of sub-standard quality, may not be good for business, future sales of the marque, or reputation.

You're right, I was a little harsh. I've looked after quite a few of the best US built cars from the '40s and later and have to admit that many had some appeal although that generally lessened with later cars. I also have a fondness for HD motorcycles even though I know they are ..........


Assuming the company remains solvent, ultimately who pays for a class action suite? The settlement is always amortised and paid for by subsequent buyers and shareholders.

matt5791, I think your term "tough st" sums it up in a nutshell, irrespective of what brand the car is. Get an extended warranty, put money in a ring-fenced account to cover potential repairs or apply for another interest free credit card.

In so many aspects of consumerism individuals should man-up and take responsibility for what may well have been an irresponsible or ill-advised purchase instead of sucking their thumb ranting "it's not fair"!

Thank you for your reply, and as am hoping to avoid worthless (to this subject) debate/swipes against USA manufacturers. Note that I purposefully avoided mentioning the Le Mans 24 Hour winning Ford GT40.

It is good that perspective buyers know of the constant known problems with various models of Bentley automobiles, their CPO advertising, how the company handles known defects, etc. Due to people now speaking out, perspective buyers can be well-aware of the problems to then make a well-educated and informed decision before possible purchase. Am sure we'd all agree, buyers of any luxury goods should educate themselves on said product before considering purchase. Thanks for your time, it is appreciated.

In hindsight, perhaps the resale 'value' of the Bentley cars reflect the costs to repair defects. Just sad to see owners endure costs at dealerships that are easily taken care of for far less at independent service providers.
