Conti GT exhausts

Thanks V12, ours is the W12 engine. I have removed the relevant fuse on our DB9 that stop the flaps operating but it seems that you have to physically pull the tubes on the Bentley. If anyone has photos of where said tubes are it would be appreciated. Also I read somewhere that it could confuse the ecu ... again any experience's guys n girls? Is anybody running the Bentley upgrade?

Once you've done this I'd love to hear your thougths on it, I've wanted to do the same on my W12 but never got round to investigating as much as you Be obliged if you could keep me in the loop in return for a virtual G&T

A World full of coincidences......
I have the GTC V8S with the sports exhaust, and previously had a DB9.2 which was computer set to permanent Sports mode.
The Bentley sports exhaust note can be a bit overwhelming on full chat; in that it is not quite the sound you would expect from that kind of car - a bit 'Max Power' really!
That said, it really gets the attention of those cars around you; especially through the airport tunnels down Altrincham Road!!
Top down it is really, really loud. I imagine it would suit a coupe 'better' really.

I have the Vacuum pipes disconnected and blocked on my W12. They were like that when I bought the car. They attach to the rear silencers just before the tailpipes and are easy to get at.
There have been no problems with the ECU and in fact, my car has been in the main dealer as well as an Indy recently. Neither seemed concerned when I pointed it out to them.
Does sound better though.

As much of a pain as it is, are you able to take a photo of exactly where they are.. reluctant to pull off random pipes There have been no problems with the ECU and in fact, my car has been in the main dealer as well as an Indy recently. Neither seemed concerned when I pointed it out to them.

Is this the Vacuum pipe?

I currently have the valves disconnected on my W12. It just sounds like it is in sport mode all the time.
I don't use the sport mode much as the car is plenty quick enough off the mark in normal drive mode for me.
If you look at the rear silencers you will see a cylinder shaped actuator for the flap with a pipe going into it.
Just pull the pipe off the actuator and block the vacuum pipe with a bolt or similar, job done.
It's a two minute job and a two minute job to revert back.
If you don't block the pipe the vacuum pump will be running all the time and may over time burn out, it also stops any foreign matter being sucked into the pump.
On most of the after market exhausts the flaps aren't there, so you have to block the pipes.
However, I would have to say that IMO the V8 sounds better.

My car is in the dealers at the moment so I can't take a photo. However, if you look at the rear silencers, you will see an actuating arm on each one. They should move if you push them, although mine were seized in the loud position when I checked them.
The vacuum pipes go to the valve mechanism where the actuating arms are. There is just one pipe connected to each silencer so they should be easy to identify. I'm not sure what those in your picture are unfortunately.
Les.
