Six months with Conti GT, and it's over!
Discussion
Ladies, and gentlemen, I would just like to warn anyone thinking of buying your dream car, in this case a 2004 Bentley Conti GT...DON'T. I bought what I thought was a cracking example, back in February this year, and have been seriously disappointed in its reliability. The car is a 30,000 mile, fully Bentley serviced, and maintained(?), example. Outwardly, and inside the cabin, it looks practically new, and shiny. So far so good. However the engineering of the unseen, but rather important mechanics, and electrical system is a flaming nightmare. I had the A/C regassed, which immediately highlighted the leak in the system. At the same time it became apparent there was a leak in the power steering system. Therefore in the first month the car was in the garage for two weeks, to replace the P/Steering pump, and two hoses, plus an A/C hose. Kerching!, £1650.00 please. Two months later, the engine check, ABS, and Parking brake lights illuminated on the dash, all at once. Five weeks in the garage later, 12 wires in the loom were relpaced, because they had corroded. (FFS you wouldn't expect this on a lowly Fiesta, or Kia). Oh, and..Kerching! £1350.00 please. Now the bloody power steering is hissing like a mad snake, and the drivers side rear quarter window won't close fully, so I've had it. I'm picking up a new Audi S5 coupe in a couple of weeks. May I wish anyone with a Bentley GT the very best of luck, and I hope they are blessed with very deep pockets, and patience.
Regards. Tim.

Power steering pumps going up the spout is common, weve replaced a good few.
Have you chopped it in or is it for sale?
I understand items such as power steering pumps can pack up in 10 years, but the rewiring, and floppy back window, I'd expect more from.Have you chopped it in or is it for sale?
Yes I have swapped the Bentley in for the Audi. The Audi garage is in a group that also has a Bentley dealership.

An interesting, yet sobering read. A reliabilty index of 598, when the average car is 118 is bloody terrible. If only I'd found that site before February. AuthurDaley said:
Sorry to hear of this! Really nice cars, but it does sound like a bit of a nightmare. S5 seems like a good move.
On an unrelated note I had a nosey around the reliability index, and an Audi RS6 scores 1137! Thats practically off the scale in unreliability.
RS6 is a nightmare to work on, its like 2 days job to get the gearbox in and out....On an unrelated note I had a nosey around the reliability index, and an Audi RS6 scores 1137! Thats practically off the scale in unreliability.
