Spirit II electrics (seats and mirrors)
Discussion
Got a weird problem
Befoirrorre car was 'laid up' for the winter, everything working ok. The only minor problem is that the mirrors didnt remember what position i set the after a change seat position
so
Get in and nothing, absolutly nothin is working, all switches dead both drive and pax
Went for ride and on return the pax has decided to get the squab moving and the front up/down. everythin else still dead
Any idea where to start
all fuses checked, so it is either the memery ECU or a someone else has suggested the seat module battery leaking, but why that should affect the mirrors beats me!!
Anyone ot the got a wiring diagram for seat/mirror for a 1990 Spirit II?

I would say almost certainly the seat modules I have a 1990 spur I had exactly the same problem,I replaced both battery's in the ecu freed of all the relays in the seat ecu and both seats have been fine since.
Have a look at this site quite a bit of info on it. http://rrtechnical.info/sz/05_sz.htm

This site has some good info as well. http://www.rollsroyceforums.com/forums/viewforum.p...
This is probably the best info for you just remembered it http://rrtechnical.info/sz/sz87/memory_seats/seat_...

The seats and the mirrors are on the same ECU. On my Spur II the drivers seat wasn't working but when you fiddled with the seat the electric mirror moved. I questioned this with the specialist and they explained they share an ECU. After a new ECU was fitted everything works fine.Befoirrorre car was 'laid up' for the winter, everything working ok. Thanks very much for the info. Tis a pity RREC dont get this type of info on their site, instead of sorting out tours that cost thousands, and gentile teas on some Lords/Duke lawn so 'our cars can be admired by the general publc' etc. some of the section reports make me want to throw up!!
Still with the info on here everything should turn out fine!!

Ahh. Doncha just love car clubs!! I am taking the track Turbo R to the BDC Concours event tomorrow...... Thanks very much for the info. Gents an update
Have successfully remaved the pax ecu and changed the battery. Unfortunately, no damn change symptons as before
Tried to remove the drivers side and noticed several differences
Pax has a spare 12 pin? socket coming from the ECU, cannot see any associated place to plug it on seat
Drivers seat
Has the 12 pin socket BUT is connected to something
Also there are three wires coming out of the ECU which appear to be earth wires as they terminate on the seat chassis These are not on the pax ECU
It has been noted that swapping the ECU should disclose any faults, but i am loath to do this because of the additional earths that are not on the Pax side.
As the ECU is out of its case i found the following this evening
On the PCB there are 12 relays numbered RL1-RL12
operating the switches i noticed the following (pax side only not done drivers side yet)
operating the fore/aft switch relay 12 operates both fore and aft no movement of seat
operating the rear squab switch forwards relays 2 and 5 operate squab does move
operating the rear squab switch backwards relays 5 and 6 operate ditto
Operating front height switch up relays 3 and 6 work Front does go up/down
operating front height switch switch down relays 5 and 6 work ditto
operating the rear height switch up relay 12 only no movement at all up/down
operating the rear height switch down relay 12 only
The next thing to try is to 'manual operation not via the ECU. In the meantime has anyone else had and cured this problem? or have I a got an ECU that is FUBAR and will cost me plenty, or is there anyone that could repair it without me taking out a second mortgage?
