Just had to take out the rear waist rails (to access the speakers and also allow a through leather treatment to the trim panels) and it looks like they used to "sign" the wood in the woodshop at Crewe (maybe they still do?) and even include a little bit of art work....see second image with reverse of waist rails. Wonder if "Bob" is still at Crewe?

165 are the last three digits of the chassis number. But don't know the significance of the apple and worm! It's all under a varnish so pretty sure this was all done at the point of manufacture. Besides I'm sure this is the first time they have been removed from the car.

The wood was always signed at the factory. Don't know if they still do.

Wonderful stuff. It's a bit like not finding any self-tapping screws anywhere, just threaded inserts.

Proper cars.

Absolutely - I noticed that - they come apart and go back together like a dream.
