My 2002 Arnage T is fitted with Pirelli P Zero Asimmetrico 255/45/R19/104/y front and back. I will shortly need a new set when they will have covered 10,000 miles.

Is this normal wear and are there any alternatives with better wear. I see that Continental, Michelin and Hancook also do the same size. has anybody tried them

I don't know Paul, but 10,000 miles does not seem adequate. On my 2002 Arnage T I have Pirelli Zero Tires P275/40R/19/105H. I have not had the car all that long and I am not sure about Pirellis. I always prefer Michelins because they seem to provide a much smoother ride. On our T it might not make all that much difference I think; it's a harsh ride anyway. I have toyed with the idea to sell the Pirellis and buy Michelins but nobody can assure me I get a smoother ride. So I keep on vacillating whether or not to just go ahead and try Michelins and the expense be damned. I find it interesting that your tires are 255s versus my 275s. Your ride is probably a little smoother because your sidewall height is 45 and mine is 40. I don't know what to do.

According to the hand book, the 255/45 are the recommended size. Perhaps your tyres are causing the harsher ride. I have to say that my ride is as smooth as silk. Have you had the "Auto Ride Control" light on or had it checked. If that is the cause the suspension defaults to its firmest setting.
I shall probably try MIchelin Sport Pilot next time just for a change!

Well, Paul, you are right, of course. I checked the books and only found 255 tires. My wheels are two-piece wheels. Maybe that might have something to do with it? Anyway, maybe the wheels accommodate 255s as well as 275s. The "Auto Ride Control" light has not been on and I am not sure you can change it in the DIPs.
I remember Jeremy Clarkson commenting on the harsh ride of the Arnage; so I was not concerned. I call it my "Grey Poupon Truck." I just love that car anyway; wasting lots of time just looking at it.

No, it was an optional extra on early cars, may have been on the facelift 2005 cars and onwards.
