Anyone know of an alloy wheel manufacturer who makes wheels to fit a 1980 Shadow? American Racing do a set but they're 18 - 20" and I want 15" to keep the same sidewall ratio. I'm trying to give my mod'd shadow the look of a 1970's rod so I'd like 15" wheels and tyres with white writing on them like firestones, etc.

Cheesy I know but its what I'd like wink

How about some Classic American Torq Thrusts for that sixties/seventies muscle car look?

American Racing only do one set with the 5 x 6.25" bolt pattern and they aren't Torqs, they're some hideous 20" chrome & black things. I mailed them earlier about a custom set of Torq's but I'm not hopeful.

I'm thinking about getting some adapters to get the pattern to 5 x 6" or 5 x 6.5" so its more standard.

Do the 15" alloy wheels from the earlier Mulsannes and Silver Spur fit?

I thought Minilite used to list a wheel for the Shadow back in the 70's / early 80's, although they don't now. Might be worth asking them if they're your style.

Thanks, yes Torqs or Minilites, that kind of 70's alloy. I'll give them a try.

they're a really strange pattern, so unique.

anything from the SZ range will fit, such as the turbo R rim.

it may be possible, with some engineering effort to get early Range Rover wheels to fit

Minilites drew a blank, which is a shame. I'll try the SZ range...

SZ's will fit, but there's nothing with the right look. Turbo R alloys aren't exactly American Graffiti or Bullit are they? and neither are any of the later wheels at 16/17/18/19.

I reckon some Torq Thrusts would look great on my old Turbo R burger

Good luck with your hunting fatbutt.

These are the chrome ones from American Racing which I don't suppose are too bad (still not what I'm looking for though):

Note: its not my car even though I do plan on a silver paint job.

From what I was told by the company who I got the revised dampers from, if you go for a more low profile tire the ride gets really messed up. Mine no longer has the hydraulic assist but the revised dampers are supposed to compensate for this. I'd still like to maintain that silky ride - the roller will never be a Lotus 7 rival wink

Had various discussions with wheel makers and they all say that the hub on pretty much all 15" alloys is too small to accommodate a 5 x 6.25" bolts pattern. They're generally suggesting a 18" wheel in order to get the available space for the bolts, but I really don't want 18" wheels.

I'm getting the impression that its big sucky wheels or nothing.

Have you tried Image wheels.... Most (if not all) of their wheels are available from 15" upwards
All can be built to any Pcd, centre bore and offset - even centre lock!

Plus they have loads of old school designs.

I got a good considered response from Image:

"As you say this car does have a large and different P.C.D to most cars but the other problem is it is a heavy car.
Sorry to say the styles you have chosen are not suitable because the P.C.D cannot be done .
Due to the P.C.D and weight of the car the only thing we could do would be a billet 2 piece wheel and the style would need to be something like our billet 17 / 46 / 47 or 67"

Looks like 15" is really not an option which sucks. The styles they're suggesting are better than the modern stuff but I'm not sure they suit the car.
