Turbo R Beeps !
Discussion
Hi, I spoke with a friendly Bentley mechanic today who advised that on the later cars, which he thinks mine is, this is a function of the alarm and is normal. My car has not done this before, however he suggested that because I have had the battery removed from the car for about 3 weeks that this has allowed the systems to discharge themselves completely and by re connecting the battery this has reset the system. this suggest that the alarm was not working properly before!
I also have a 1993 Turbo R. Given the low production of the later cars, I believe that perhaps 1/3 of these cars are owned by members of this forum. The three beeps should occur only when locking the car via the lock button on the door. I've never heard the three beeps when using the remote for exterior locking. Depressing the remote gives out one long beep. Similarly, the three beeps also occurs in my Corniche. Sounds a bit odd to me.
To give a little more history to the problem, the car battery although only being 6 months old started to flatten over 4 days. I removed it, charged it and tested it over 3 weeks and found when out of the car it held a good charge. So I replaced the battery and started the car, it ran as normal with no warning lights until I switched off the ignition, that's when I now get 3 short bleeps from the centre of the dash. It did not do this before. The battery is still on the car and seems to be holding the charge as you would expect. The bleeps are not related to me locking the car and Its not a Sony radio, I think the radio is a Panasonic. Although it does not seem to be doing any harm it is annoying.

Check that the glove-compartment door is clicking shut all the way, as I have heard that this was a known problem.
You could also try clicking the alarm swotch in the glove compartmnet to 'disarm', and seeing if that affects battery drain.
Another possibility is an alternator drain.
If I am not using my R for several days I switch the battery switch off, located in the boot compartment on the r/h side.
Cheers
