Buying a Flying Spur
Discussion
Hey guys
i have a 2007 tdv8 and im thinking of selling it to get a bentley flying spur 06-07 plate.
could anyone help me out what are the running costs on fuel like and what are the costs for servicing like?
im in the midlands so anyone got any experience with dealers around here.
im looking to get somewhere between 25-35k car....any common issues to look for?
my range rover gets about 24mpg at around 70mph and local driving between 11-18mpg so would i expect something like this?
i appreciate everyones help.

I picked up mine a few months back, I'd say expect 10-12mpg, maybe 14 if you're on a motorway run.
I use Bentley Manchester (who are actually in Knutsford) and so far they seem ok.
I think you will need to adjust your budget up £10k unless you want to get a car with moon miles and nasty spec.
Insurance was a few hundred quid on top of the ferrari policy I have.

Hi
I meant my budget was 35k and the max mil edge car is between 25-35 miles on the clock.
A neighbour of mine has a 2006 grey flying spur with 10,000 on the clock full bentley service, he wants 35k is that a steal?
When you say between 10-14mpg what speed is that at?...do you ever see high as 20 if you are say at 50mph? Reason I ask is that I travel m6 everyday and it says 5max and the. The rest is local roads...so just wanted to figure our what would I expect for gas bills.
How old is yours and had any scary service bills?

If you zero the trip counter and embark upon a steady 70mph motorway cruise you will just about see 20mpg average. Most of the time we see 13 overall with single figures in London. Servicing costs aren't too bad as there are indies who now have the ability to look after these. Some of the parts aren't too bad either but there are some major expenses lurking if you buy a bad car. However at £35k it is unlikely to fall much more and as always it is depreciation which is the biggest cost. Your friend's car sounds ok but low mileage isn't a guarantee of no future issues.
