Just went to go out in my GTC, battery is dead, I managed to open the drivers door but the car won't start and the emergency battery starts the car for about 3 seconds and then it cuts out.

Now, I can't open the boot to charge the batter, they key won't come out of the ignition, I can't get into the bonnet as I can't get the passenger door open. Luckily my ski hatch was open and I managed to have a go at the emergency boot open with a brrom handle with a hook taped on but it wont open.

What can I do? I have to go out urgently and at the moment I can't even just shut the door and go as the key will be locked in and I only have the one.

Thanks.

You can usually get back-chargers which will put charge back into a battery via the cigarette lighter.

Oh and replace your batteries!

Read your car manual. You should find nstructions for getting the key out by using the small hole adjacent to the key slot.
If you are not going to use the car for more than a week, plug a battery conditioner into the socket in the boot or under the rear valance. Change the battery in your key and reset the immobiliser, and fit new batteries.

Have you managed to fix it? I had loads of flat battery issues with my 07 GTC from lack of use, but the car thankfully always started with the back up battery. Ended up replacement the main battery £200 for the correct glass mat technology one, but that did not solve the problem or make any difference, in the end I think that the nav drive was faulty and not shutting down causing a continual electrics drain. Replaced the nav drive (at great expense) and the car settled down again. These cars are amazingly complicated electronics based on the VW Phaeton and Audi A8 coding and in the main very reliable. Ended up keeping mine on a battery conditioner all the time as it would go flat within a week. Would suggest getting a full computer diagnostics report, there will be 70+ fault codes stored from the flat battery alone, save the list then clear them all out and see if anything comes back as a real fault... All the best. Yours M
