I have a '78 T2 fitted with a Turbo motor and running gear. Not positive what year the engine etc is but it has the K-Jetronic injection system fitted. It is time for a service so can anyone advise which oil and plugs should be fitted? TIA

The Bentley Assist DVD for 1990 to 2000 says BP Super Viscostatic for the engine oil for Turbo cars, but there is a long list of other lubricants for final drive, gearbox and many other components. You would be well advised to tread carefully, since putting in too modern an oil may search out things you would rather not discover.

Similarly, there is a long list of plugs to choose from according to the VIN number of the car. In your case, it sounds as if the engine is a Turbo replacement, so it might be necessary to search the Assist disc by the engine number. If the car has been running OK up to now, why not just replace the plugs with new versions of the ones already fitted?

Maybe you should seek an Assist disk so that you can search it for yourself. You can find them on e-bay.

Best wishes,
David.

Good luck in looking for the DVD. If you can't get one on e-bay, you may get one through Flying Spares or even an independent Bentley service garage. Assuming you can lay your hands on one, you'll probably find that the disc has expired, so you'll need to reset the date on your computer to an earlier year to get it to run.

I see you have a taste for SAAB. It was the prospect of buying my 24th Saab that drove me into buying a Bentley Mulsanne Mk II that I ran for 9 years until the bills mounted to unrealistic levels. I bought my first Saab in 1974 - a 99 in dayglow orange. One of my favourites was the 99 EMS, which was well built and quick. I too had a Carlsson, as well as Turbo 16S and various 9000 Aero that were much quicker than most people realised. I quit Saab when they brought out the 9-3 and 9-5 since they seemed to have lost the quirks that made Saab attractive. (Sorry to pollute the Bentley forum with Saab guff).

Best wishes,
David.
