I'm about to build a three bay garage and I'm going to need something to put in it. biggrin I've always like the look of the Bentley continental gt and I was wondering, is the 2004 shape the same as the 2013 shape? Is there any way of telling new from old? are there any other differences at all, any reason to buy newer? any big improvements? Thanks.

Revised model appeared in 2011 along with a V8 option. You would have to be an anorak or previous owner to notice the differences though.

i'd shy away from the 2004 and 2005 models and look at 2006 on up. The first two years had some small growing pains it seems. In 2008 they did some more internal tweaking/evolution... and of course the new models with changed body styling, better NAV/Bluetooth/Touchscreen/etc. Am sure the pricing on those 04 and 05 models in Europe must look attractive tho. Still, i'd stick with a 2006 or better. JMHO

Depends on the depth of your pocket. £30K will buy you an 04 or 05 car but it might have had electronic niggles. Pay a Bentley main dealer to bring the service record up to date and you will have a car that will blow the doors off most Astons, Ferrari and Porsche, and which will be reliable as long as you stick with Bentley main dealer servicing.
If you can double your budget, you'll get an 08 car with 21 inch wheels ans subtley different body panels. You'd still be well advised to go for Bentley servicing, since this is the only place that you will get manufacturers electronic upgrades.
Tread with great caution or you will risk a nightmare experience.
Bon chance!
David.

I am also looking at buying a GT and a friend told me that the headlining has to be cut out to fix the third brake light. Plus, it is engine out to fix the wiper motors. Is this true, and are there other 'small' jobs that are really 'big' jobs?

thanks

A dealer can fix the third brake light without any major headliner situation as I recall. They fixed the one in the '06 within an hour or so.

Thanks, I thought it sounded a bit dramatic.
