Any RR Shadow experts around?
Discussion
Paul Yorke must be one of the leading experts on Silver Shadows.
If he doesn't know it, it probably isn't worth knowing.

OK worth a try. I really need a specific name, preferably a recommendation. I want an estimate, then I want them to do a good job. Simple enough, but there are so many people out there who either can't be bothered responding unless you tell them money's no object, or who want to rip you off.If he doesn't know it, it probably isn't worth knowing.

Could this be a relation ?
I would recommend that you give Nigel Sandell a call - www.nsandell.com
Nigel has looked after my Shadow for a number of years, and really knows his stuff. He's also a very decent chap and is well known as James May's mechanic. In fact, when I popped in to see him today he had James' Corniche in for a service.

I second Paul Yorke.
He looks after my 1969 Chippendale Shadow and my recently acquired Brooklands R Mulliner. Looked after my 1967 drophead before I sold that too.
Reasonably priced, very knowledgeable and always happy to chat, I would give him a call and see what he has to say.
Best of luck...

I recommend Shane Ashley-Carter in Ewelme Oxfordshire. Encyclopaedic knowledge of RR & Bentley. Reasonable cost too. www.a-cl.co.uk
I would recommend having a conversation with Ian at Tanworth garage - they do not market themselves as a RR specialist, but Ian is with these cars, and he has an excellent bodywork man down the road.
You wont get ripped off and you wont have any work carried out that is not necessary - unless you really want it done. Very straight forward people to deal with who always try to find the best / most suitable way to resolve problems for you.

They are based south of Birmingham, not far from M42 and M40 in a pretty village.

Could any experienced Shadow owners suggest a really good engineer for body and mechanical work, on a Shadow II? (Without going totally OTT, like P&A Wood, I mean.)
Why would you expect a single individual to work miracles with all aspects of a rather complex car?matt5791 said:

I've no idea how much you want to spend or what standard you expect but you could have a conversation with Wraith Continental in Barnet.I could never get my head around anyone trusting someone who just "subs" out body and paint. These cars are as complex when it comes to body, paint and wood renovation as they are mechanically.

I know what you are saying, and I know there are specialists and dealerships with their own excellent bodyshop facilities, but lots of very reputable garages sub out body work on all manner of different vehicles, (many much more complex than a shadow) and there are some utterly superb independent bodyshops around (I used to deal with a lot of them when I sold automotive paint and Facom garage equipment in the 90's). Infact I have a customer who, in the 80's and 90's owned a bodyshop in Cheshire and the Crewe factory themselves used to sub out very complicated accident repairs to them. I was chatting to him about it the other day. Apparently he had some jigs that Crewe didn't - weird, but apparently true. He's retired now.I could never get my head around anyone trusting someone who just "subs" out body and paint.
