Does anyone use an Arnage as a daily drive? I am guessing the 4.4 is a little less heavy on the juice than the 6.75.

I go through phases of using mine as a daily driver, for the last month or so i used mine most days, mostly back and forth into town and a bit on the motorway its the 6.75. Fuel wise I've been putting about £180 per week in it which I can cover about 300 miles. Its big too park with a long overhang at the rear. Its very light and easy around town, the later cars are more sorted and more up to everyday use

I love the idea. Sadly though, I would probably get too many customers leave me, even though many of them drive cars that cost more than I could buy a nice Arnage for. rolleyes

My biggest concern would be the fuel consumption. I am suprised no one has LPG'd one of these monsters.

I'd put up with the fuel consumption as this would largely be offset by the fact that the earlier cars are pretty close to the bottom of their depreciation curve.

Looking at this thread with interest. I have been lucky enough to drive a few nice cars in my time however I was surprised to see the bentleys within a price range of 15-20k for the 4.4 and even more exciting in the fact that people are saying on the whole they are reliable cars!

If something does go wrong they are easily enough fixed.

Does anyone know if theres a buyers guide on getting one, I have tried to find one with no success.

They are not what you would call cheap motoring Arnage is very expensive to maintain even if you don't use main dealer for servicing and repair here are few examples The Indicator switch alone is £490,00 the front shock absorber is £970.00 the ball joint is over £200.00 and they are notorious for window regulators that keep going which are just under £500.00 for each window

I buy and sell these cars, amongst others, for a living and have had over 70 of them in various derivatives over the years and I can't think of one that had to have a faulty window regulator replaced, either I have been fortunate or you have been very unlucky. The rest of the items are hardly likely to fail on a regular basis either, but when you are looking at a 10 plus year old car that cost circa £150000 new what do you expect?

I know the 6.75 is the engine of choice, but is there anything to be gained running costs wise by opting for the 4.4? I'm not really referring to fuel here, more servicing and reliability.

If the BMW 4.4 is better, reliability-wise in the Bentley than it was in the LM Range Rovers, you'll be in good shape as it was a fine engine in 7-series installations. Granted, if it were me, I'd be going for the 6.75 on the sheer fact that if I'm going to pay Bentley prices for upkeep, I want as much Crewe in the car as possible.

I've never understood this. Couldn't you just explain how much it cost to purchase compared to their cars?

Unfortunately, people tend to just vote with their feet, they don't always say why to give you the chance to have the conversation.
