Hello all,

Tomorrow I am viewing a Bentey GTC, 56 plate that has covered 50k.

Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for? I am new to Bentley and I'm not sure if there are any common faults or rust patches etc. I've tried a search and not come up with much.

The car is £49k and has all the extras apart from massage seats, does this sound about right?

Thanks for any help.

Glass's says with 20" alloys Trade 41k. Retail 48k.

Are 21 inch wheels original equipment for 56 plate GTC ? I think not. You will find them much less comfortable than 19 inch. Where has it been serviced ? Are the tyre pressure sensors working ?50 K sounds like top dollar to me. Tread carefully.

I am now seated on the ferry from Rosslare to Pembroke, so can expand on my previous posting.
The GT range is prone to electronic gremlins. These are especially frequent in cars that have been serviced by non-franchised garages or so called specialists. This arises because they lack access to Bentley computer upgrades that are a normal part of a Bentley main dealer service. Hence for a top dollar car you should have evidence that all services have been done on time by a Bentley main dealer. At this age, the brake pipes should have been replaced, and you should have proof this has been done. If not, get £1,300 to £1, 500 knocked off, because that is what a main dealer will charge to do the work, which is listed in the service schedule.
Drive it and check for throbbing noises from the front on left or right hand bends. New wheel bearings will be about £700 per wheel. New tyre pressure sensors will be circa £100 per wheel. Tyres will be at least £200 each depending on your negotiating skills. Tyres can be in short supply, and many cars are fitted with tyres that are intended for BMW, but which are not rated for Bentley loadings. The tyres in the Manual are the only ones suitable, and should have (B) or (BC) stamped on them after the tyre size data- not sure about this on 21 inch wheels though.
Hope this helps.
