My 1996 Bentley Turbo has recently developed a knocking sound when being driven. It appears t be coming from the front right wheel, but I cannot see anything that is likely to be causing the noise. However both front brakes appear to be very oily. Any advice as to what may be the cause of it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Suggest you get the wheel bearing checked. What mileage have you on the odometer? When were the wheel bearings last changed?

wheel bearing does indeed seem plausible.

From memory, they're nothing special and could be supplied by local bearing factor

Thanks for the replies. I'm in the Rhone Alpes region of France with the car, but there is a local garage which services classic cars and I will get them to take a look.

Front hub seal is RR part no UG13397.

The likes of Flying Spares have these for £20 or so

good luck
