What's the main causes for concern on the GT guys?
I've had a WW warranty with my last 996tt for over 6 years and I broke even most years. Only ever had one job they wouldn't pay out on and that was a misdiagnosis on behalf of the OPC.
I have heard the air suspension regularly goes wrong, but is this scare mongering?
So what are the common problems.
Thanks,
Frank

tyre pressure sensors, rear brake light, power steering system leaks, wheel bearings.

Fantastic cars but expensive to run.

Thanks.
I have heard about the tyre pressure sensors ...not to expensive to replace and diagnose .
What's the problem with the rear brake light, is it a mare to rectify?
Power steering issues, I've heard a little about this only some thing about the engine has to come out to replace the hoses if they leak?? Is this correct . What's the full story please??
wheel bearing, is it a premature common problem or just expected at XX miles?

Sorry for PM's question time but I do appreciate it.
If I do get a GT I'm also looking at purchasing one of these to help diagnostics:

That's just what I repaired in a year of ownership. The rear brake light is a known fault that was rectified after a few years I believe but an 04 or 05 should have had it done or it will need doing. Approx £700.
Tyre pressure sensors were expensive but can't remember exactly how much, something like £150-200 each including labour perhaps?
Power steering leak was £2,000 ish to fix, previous owner must have known about it.
Wheel bearing was £7-800 at Bentley. They are heavy cars with a lot of power so not that surprising. Whining noise suddenly became audible on a long run and disappeared when turning right.
My car was an 04 with 45,000 miles and had got to that stage where a long term owner realised it had a lot needing to be done and got rid of it cheap so I knew there were probably a few things needing to be done.
I found that I was driving around dreading something going wrong by the end.

I've also owned a 996 turbo and it was a superb car, very different to the bentley. The Bentley has a real sense of occasion but it's very big and very thirsty and expensive to maintain. The 996TT was extremely fast and relatively cheap to run but build quality was poor compared to the Bentley, the interior rattled and shook whereas the Bentley still felt like a £150k car.

Yes the '04/'05 and some early-ish '06 had the rear center brake light problem it seems. Tire pressure monitoring was corrected and changed for the 06 models on up as I recall. Me? Decided to not go too cheap and, well, if you do that is the 'price' you pay for early development per se. It also helps to explain why they are that low in price for very early models. Stick with at least a well-maintained 06, or better still an 07 on up as they don't have the problems described by the previous post from what I have seen on various discussion boards.

Had an 06 GT for a few years and now an 07 GTC. So far so good and general cost to maintain is relatively reasonable. As you know, these are ~$200k cars when new. Remember years ago you could buy Ferraris cheap (and you still can), but you get what you pay for. It is great you are asking because over the years with various exotics/luxury cars have seen too many people go too cheap because they could not really afford these cars, then they cheap out on maintenance of course... and the rest is HIStory.
