Are there any RREC members on here who are NOT aware of the recent issues concerning Corporate Governance and the resignations of SIX directors (5 in a few days) due to alleged breaches of company law and the introduction of items on the board's agenda which are 'ambush' items that get approved without proper debate due to pre-meeting lobbying?
If not, please familiarise yourself and vote accordingly if you want change: http://www.mainbeam.co.uk/
or read the thread here:

Thank you.

it's at times like these that I really wish I was a member.

But, RREC have little to interest me. I'm a keen driver and mechanic, whereas they're focused more on shows and polishing. Shame, really.

that's one of the many criticisms; that the bi-monthly periodical used to be quite technical, but is now all about picnics

I was a member for 19 years, they are a super gang with some very clever technical people as members. Some members put some very technical articles togethet for the mag

That's what a lot of people have said, that the bulletin was full of technical stuff. Not any more however!

I have been a member for about 5 years and in my view a shake up is overdue. They have considerable resources but do nothing with them except flap on about buying their headquarters. The web site hasn't changed in the time that I have been a member and the so called listing of cars is a joke, particularly in relation to the more modern cars. The archive of individual cars is first class and the Welsh region is certainly well run and active but the central activities are crying out for change and invigoration
Rather than running it with part time directors they should appoint a chief executive with vision to take the club forward.

Paul, they have a CEO, who is theoretically responsible for the day-to-day running of the club (so more of a manager). If you want change, then please petition for it. I am a committee member of the Middlesex Section and, along with many others, work hard to organise local events. The 'activity' is at local level, but the 'head office' mentality is crazy.

As a very long standing club member their have been management issues in the past both within regional sections and the club HQ itself. The club will only be as good as its members and what they put in and or take from it. The Club itself has an enormous archive, wealth of knowledge and are more than helpful in trying to assist and research information for members.
However the biggest threat I see to both the BDC and RREC is the fact the majority of the membership are of retirement age and therefore both clubs and this includes other Car clubs too have an image of older people and fail to attract a younger new membership which is both detrimental to membership numbers and the fact that somtimes certain styles can be a little dated but that can also be part of the charm.
In the last 20 years I have attended and been invited to numerous wonderful events and met some exceedingly interesting and charming people. There are enthusiasts, eccentrics and owners all together. Weather it Be Rolls Royce or Bentley we are as club members united in our interest in these cars and any isolated issues should not deter the membership to attend a wonderful season of events and I would strongly suggest that any owner or enthusiast should join.

Thanks to ADP68 for bringing this to my attention. Having not been on the RREC message board for a while I was completely unaware that all this was going on. The next Bulletin will make interesting reading...

farmerJim, the bulletin is written by the people at the Hunt House, so I wonder how unbiased it will be

They have now posted the MC minutes on the web site. It includes this extract

"JF then informed DT that he would have to take legal advice from Peninsula that afternoon because of the implications of the statements made by JM that DT was being harassed by a member of staff."

A Director resigning because he is being harassed by a member of staff!! Would never happen on my watch.

Paul, more importantly, people 'dissenting' can have their postings deleted from the message board. Kim Jong-Un style! Madder by the minute

More strange goings on, with the club's response leaving more questions to ask...

Huge new revelations on the rrec site. Please see the thread about the "Bentley enthusiasts club" directors of whom are an Rrec mc member and someone with the same name as the CEO!
