Bentley Turbo R "Red Label"......Why?
Discussion
At some point during the SZ run, the badge background was changed from black to red - I should be able to remember why, but can't just bring it to mind. No SZ was ever marketed as "Red label"
The Arnage was, however, marketed as a model entitled "Red Label"
I suspect that these people are confusing the later model's titles with earlier cars fitted with red badge backgrounds. It just goes to show how little some supposedly "knowledgeable" dealers actually know about the cars

As far as I am aware only the Arnage ever got the tag "Label" either green or red.
The colours of the other badges are worthy of a specialist subject on Mastermind.
On the Cricklewood Bentleys
Blue Standard
Red Speed Models
Green Supersports and Speed Six
Black 41/2 litre and Blower
On The Crewe Bentleys
Red Mulsanne Turbo, Turbo R, Continental R, Arnage R
Black Continental T, Arnage T, Continental Gt, Continental Flying Spur, Azure 2006
Blue Azure
Yellow Continental R 1995 Giallo Quaranta Special Edition
Green All badges in 1996 Anniversary, Continental R Mulliner, Arnage BMW engine
Despite all this apparantly the factory would let you have any colour you wanted!!

My Bentley Turbo R was built to my specification in 1991. To the best of my recollection the "red B badge" signified nothing more than it was a Turbo R as I did not want any other of the badges on the boot emblazoned Turbo R. I have never in 26 years of ownership ever heard of any mention of a red label Bentley Turbo R until today, referenced to a vehicle currently being restored / converted.
Ive always understood it as Red lable meaning 6.75 V8 engine and Green lable as being the 4.4 BMW unit fitted to the Arnage models early days 99 onwards.
My Turbo RT 400 Mulliner had all Blue badges specified and fitted from new even on the engine and they were listed on the cars build sheet as such.
I have also seen Black badges too and even Yellow badges but suspect these are purely special order by first owners possibly.
Regardless of any badges fitted they are all superb cars and I was very proud to have owned one for 3 years and at such a young age too for this kind of car. I still deeply regret selling her to this day as she was a FULLY loaded and very unique example which took me nearly 3 years to eventually find.
I now have this though. LOL
Cheers.
