1996 Turbo R Oil Change Interval & New Windscreen Question
Discussion
note that its something like 10 hours of labour to properly do the front screen. Men in vans like to just cheesewire the old one out, and drop the new one in so it doesnt seal properly and leaks water and whistles
and they can ruin the leather surround
well, thats according to Phantom Motors who i trust 100% on such matters

I had a National outfit fit a new screen several years ago, they made a right pigs ear of it, and it still doesn't look pretty. At least it cost me nowt.
Phantom fitted a new rear screen a few years back when I had the car repainted, they did a super job, but I had to pay for that one, rather than claim.
I have the oil & filter changed once a year, whether I've done 3K or 7K. Probably a bit OTT, but there's always super clean oil on the dipstick.
Ayup Mr Honeyball, long time no post!

I beleive that the service schedule provides for oil / filter change every 6,000 miles or 6 months. Given the nature of today's oils (things have moved on since my car was built 22 years ago and even then I think that every six months was OTT if you hadn't done the miles), I am inclined to go for every 6,000 miles, period.

You mention cheesewire like it's a bad thing?

Glassman, in your experience ar ethe front and rear windscreens on the Bentley Turbo R tricky to get right? Should i entrust the work to a national firm or use a Bentley specialist?
Yes, they can be; not for a 'fast fit' fitter, that's for sure. There's good and bad wherever you go. But it's your car and your money and if you want it done right and without any dramas, go with someone recommended by a trusted source.
