This Camargue only has 900 miles on the clock and they want £60k for it. Now, anyone north of 40 will know this was the most expensive car in the world from the mid 70s to the mid 80s.

It must be practically in brand new condition - is it worth fifty large?

It looks fantastic, but I have to wonder at who exactly would shell out sixty grand for an old Camargue? Would you consider it a classic? The Silver Shadow looks great now, the Camargue still looks a little less refined somehow, and it's only two door!

Mind you, I do love it and if I was that couple who won 120 odd million in the euro lotto I would snap it up.

Hideous! Camargues are not to everyone's taste, but in the right colours, e.g. dark blue, BRG, they have a certain style when viewed from any angle other than head on, but in metallic vomit with a brown plastic roof, er, no thanks.

hehe I rather like the colour! I agree they don't look as classy as a silver shadow, but there is something about them - they are massive! But fifty grand is too much. It would be a superb buy for ten though!

I'd never even heard of them paperbag. Off to do some googling for more info.

To be honest though, if I saw that coming down the street I'd think someone had stuck a rolls grill on an allegro!

Some years ago I went to see a ultra low mileage silver late series Camargue for sale - it was LHD - ex middle east owner - which probably explained the unbelievable grey velour interior. Ghastly - the only car I can remember with such a horrible interior was an Aussie Ford Fairmont (I think) like a stretched series 2 Granada with a 351C engine and that yukky grey interior!

Rolls Royce Camargue on Ebay - only 900 miles on the clock!

If its been serviced properly during its life and is in excellent condition with only 900 miles on the speedo then its worth double the 60,000 pound thats being asked. Its worth at least double because its not a just a car its an icon which will never be repeated in the life of this planet. Some comments on the net and in hard copy publications have been made about its styling but don't be fooled, its a shape that grows on you and to see one in the flesh is just mind blowing. Some say its just like a Fiat 130. Well the Fiat 130 was in itself a luxury vehicle but if you were to put the two side by side and go over them you would see the difference (Gigantic). The quality that Rolls put on its chrome, paint, leather and every thing else right down to the brake fluid reservoir and the fuel cap is simply top shelf. My feeling is that unless you have been a mechanic for 40 plus years like myself, you are at a total disadvantage when trying to assess something like a Camargue. But please I love to sound off other peoples brains because just sometimes you can learn something from people poorer, dumber and crazier than yourself.

If you bought it and used it wouldn't it's value drop as it would no longer be an odd ball low mileage thing?

Also, yuck!!!

Look at it this way. The Rolls Royce Camargue is quite simply the ultimate in personal transportation. It was designed by Pininfarina and approved by and built by Rolls Royce. The quality of the materials used and the workmanship done simply has no peers period. The car was built to last 100 years plus. The side view is supercool, the rear has been called supremely elegant and the front is quite brutal. I can't say that I am 100 percent pleased with the front. I think if the headlights were recessed into the guards such could improve the vista. But this was the most expensive car in the world when it came out. Only about 164 or so were built in right hand drive. The Camargue in question appears extremely well looked after. What the market is paying for a car rarely has anything to do with its long term value. Take the staggering rise in e-type jaguar prices. In the 1970s you could get them for little now even wrecks get big dollars. The same for Astons. My point is the Camargue inherently is a first class jewel.I've got one and I want 10 more. Must have! The utter crap that one gets for a new car now justifies my stance on the matter. A new car today is totally destined for the scrap heap from day one by being totally over complicated and built out of mostly plastic and extremely thin metal panels. The car manufacturers are taking the mickey out of us big time. As for safety what would you rather be in, an Allegro or a Camargue, if the two were to meet head on at 100 kilometers per hour? I have been a Cadillac fan for decades. I always poo pooed the English for their Rolls Royce. But after actually getting my hands on one and going right over it, I have to say the bloody English knew what they were doing and they did it really well. Yes, I think that Camargue is worth 60,000 pound plus if it is what it appears to be an extremely low kilometer vehicle hopefully well serviced. Now I just don't have 60K pound at the moment so here is what I will do. If you are a rich man and agree with me just buy the bugger for me and I will shut up. If you are a poor man go down to the local with a tin and do the rounds and send me what you can get. If you do well I will agree with you that the Camargue is yuk, like an Allegro etc etc.

Everyone is different, which is great.

But I can't think anyone would describe it as beautiful, or even attractive.

I'd rather be in any new 5star car car if I must be in a head on, a new Volvo would be 10 times safer.

Yes there is a reason. It's called ignorance and I'd like to keep it that way until I can afford to buy a few more. Vladimir
