Hi,

All excited with my new iPhone 4S only to discover that it won't work with my 2007 Conti GT.

The car discovers it and I put in the code the car generated - all looked good. But the phone book won't load. It comes up on the car screen "Unsupported".

I managed to manually dial a number from the dashboard but when I called the car I got horrible feedback through the speakers first time and the calls kept dropping thereafter.

Anyone got a fix (rather than buy a new car.....)

K

frown My car now has it's own sim, but you do get a far better signal.

Thanks. If it has it's own sim does that mean it has it's own telephone number that is different from my iPhone?

It is the Bluetooth unit in the car. The term 'Bluetooth' covers a wide variety of technologies in a certain radio spectrum, and it seems Bentley's (VW's actually) Bluetooth system is a bit aged. Have the same situation as you, yet in a 2006 GT. The cost to upgrade the Bluetooth here in the States in over $2000(!).

rSAP is really the best method, imho, to achieve the best benefit the Bentley system has to offer. Alas, the iPhone and some new devices do not support rSAP. Am not sure if someone offers an rSAP program for iPhone, yet many Android devices support rSAP out of the box and there are rSAP programs for the Android operating system.

Hope this helps.

Yes, the car has it's own number, which some found funny on caller ID

Perhaps an rSAP solution for (jailbroken) iPhone 4 and iPhone 3 users

Put a cheap sim into the cars own system, and then when your in the car get your Iphone to forward calls to that number. You could probably set up a one touch icon on your Iphones screen.

Or change your stereo for this, it will handsfree up to ten numbers http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-k...

Just got a 2007 Conti GTC and I'm having just this problem........

So is there a solution now???

Surely someone clever has done an rSAP app for the iphone??

If not, what solutions do others use??

Bertie, Bentley does offer a newer phone 'core' (internal operating computer) for around $2000 USD that handles the newer phone HF types. Other than that, solutions are usually work-arounds using other hardware/awkward.

So us there no one that can fit a system that allows iPhone connection and music streaming?

Is the best idea to get a second SIM?

Interesting, thanks for that.

Isn't that ipod integration rather than phone though??

Seems the way round it is to get another SIM and stick it in the cat, bit crap!

Bertie, not sure about iPhone versus i-whatever as tend to avoid Apple products unless forced to (development work, Bentley only handling iTouch for music, etc). Of course the new models from Bentley have a more diverse/modern system that the 'older' pre 2007 or so models lack. As i recall posting, for around $2000 you can upgrade the HF/Bluetooth system as a factory-direct upgrade.

I had this problem with my flying spur, all you can do is stick a sim in the car or fork out circa £850 for new ecu for phone system.

Not surprising that I put a sim in the car and forwarded my calls.

Nice one Bentley!

This is the best solution but O2 and tmobile don't offer this option. I think Vodafone do and I'm not sure about three.

Just seen this thread and thought I would comment.

I upgraded my bluetooth two months ago to the latest system after having a nightmare with several phones. It cost me about $1000 here in Dubai.

The upgraded unit still doesnt work all the time with the iphone or my motorola. I've tried a blackberry's and some nokias which seem to work fine. But the iphone and motorola will just randomly cut in a call and then not read the contracts. They they need to be disconnected and reconnected to work.

I too have now given the car its own sim and have my android set up to redirect calls when I'm in the car. I dont have this issue with any of the other cars just the bentley system.
