First of all just trying pulling and pushing up and down several times quite quickly. Do that before you start taking it apart, not guaranteed but it's been known to do the trick.
Remember gents, the locks on the Mk. IV Turbos operate not with solenoids as on the earlier cars. These have a much more smooth, fluid action and I am guessing that the motor is at faulty.
