Bentleys over-rated?
Discussion
Just kidding...I have read the forums and believe they are fantastic cars....just wanted to get this forum going again....it has been quiet recently and, being 'stuck' in Toronto with no car, I tend to read the forums often....

For me, although today's current models are beautiful, and 'Yes' I would buy one if I could afford one, they lack somewhat in the character department. I know it's subjective how each of us see's such cars, but in my opinion my 1990 Turbo R has the X Factor. If Bentley still produced the Turbo R, I would opt for one of those against the current GT. The GT lacks the 'Magic' of the TR. But are Bentley's overated was the question....NO definately not. I visited the Bentley factory in Crewe in Nov 2011 and saw first hand the craftsmanship that goes into each car....Quite something to see. What was it I heard a guy from Bentley say "Owning another Marque may show wealth, owning a Bentley shows taste". I agree.
OK, the Turbo R was made by Rolls Royce. That aside, I Love her to bits and salavate at the very thought of seeing her, let alone driving her. I've been fortunate to have owned both a RRSS I and a RRSS II, and as wonderful as they both are in their own way. The Bentley tops them hands down. Mind you it's a far newer car, so it should top them.
I would lay odds that the Turbo R turns more heads than the GT as featured in the You Tube clip above. But with the sale of Bentley's so high right now, especially in China, they are certainly not overated.

LOL....question I posed was just to get the forum going again...went a bit quiet I feel....
Agreed, nothing comes close to the craftsmanship of a Bentley/ Rolls Royce (Veyron excepted?)...I personally feel that a Conti GT is probably a sensible Bentley to own, at least for me,as it should prove reliable and not cost megabucks to maintain.
I turn 50 next year so now or never, I feel...
Do people stop and ask you about your Bentley/ take pictures etc? Here in Toronto, there are not many British cars. I have seen 3 Jags and one Bentley in 5 months...most of the cars seem to be A to B cars, i.e. required as a necessary means of transport

I do get people taking pictures of my Turbo R. She turns many heads and stops people in their tracks. I would like to think they do that because they appreciate not only her beauty, but the craftsmanship that went into building her.
Have just been watching the Top Gear feature on the Bentley GT with JC. Flying Spares have sent it on their Facebook site. Worth watching.
