Questions for the brain trust.

Can someone let me know the dates and or chassis number changeover time between these types of suspension.

I have been asked to source a 'cheap' run-around for a friend in Lebanon and a Turbo R would be right up his street.

Also, your top 10 things to check before purchase?

Many thanks.

Phil

Active ride came in around the time of the 30000 series cars so approx 1990

Things to look out for are pretty much everything and it would be fair to say that they are not a cheap runabout and never will be. . . . sorry to be so blunt, but they are absolute moneypits if you dont buy very very carefuly, for example, the parts alone for a major / hydraulic service are around £800 and there is almost a week of labour charges to add on to the cost smile

Rather than list the things to look for, have a look at my "it followed me home" thread for some issues and please take the advice that everybody should take when viewing one of these cars . . . . have it inspected by a Rolls Royce / Bentley specialist . . . . BDC and RREC will be able to point you in the direction of who to trust smile

There are a few less reputable dealers out there and extreme caution should be given to anybody making any unsubstantiated claims of any sort e.g. “oh it had a hydraulic service last year, but we’ve lost the paperwork”

ETA a list of all the changes that came in with active ride

Active ride was introduced for the 1990MY cars, first cars were September onwards, but late delivery from the factory due to technical problems meant that there were not many 1989 registered cars. The last three letters at the end of the chassis No before the five numbers are LCH for active ride. Quick identification can be made by looking to see if there are four air con ducts on the dash, if there are it is 1990MY or after.

Many thanks gents.

The cheap run-around was strictly tongue in cheek as I'm aware these can be a money pit.

My friend owned a couple of new Shadow's back in the 70's and expects to spend on the car here in the UK prior to shipping the car.

I will check out your earlier thread and follow up with the other links.

OK on the dash vents.

Thank you again.
