Hi, don't know whether you guys will be able to help, but any advice is gratefully recieved....
My Grandfather has a Renault 21 "Symphony" Limited Edition GTS, E Reg with only 5 and a half thousand miles on the clock, he's been the owner since new and it has been housed in a garage all it's life....now he wants to sell it....how on earth do you value a vehicle like this????
Any suggestions on how/where to sell this car or should I just stick it on ebay and hope it sells???
Thanks in advance!

Nice car, but sadly not worth a lot. Tidy turbos fetch £800-£1000ish, anything less is down to chance.
A good option might be the Retro rides forum (free- with pics)-they tend to like that kind of car.

Good luck though- not an easy sell

Thanks Nigel, it is a tricky one eh...
I've scoured the internet and can't find one for sale to even gauge an approximate value...I know it's only worth what someone wants to pay for it which is fine, I just wish I had some idea!
Thanks again though smile

It`s worth however much tax and test it has I`m afraid.

If you go by 'book' value then it is worth nothing. However, if you get it known in the right places, I'm sure a retro-Renault enthusiast would be very interested in what I presume is a 'new' old car! I had a number of R25's (the next model up from the R21) over the years and they were great cars. If anyone ever offered me a 5500 mile 'as new' R25, I'd certainly pay well over 'book' for it. Definately worth putting a free advert on Pistonheads and seeing what the interest is...you might even be surprised!

OP, is the car currently taxed and tested, indicating regular use? If so, you might get a grand for it, on a good day with a fair wind!

If it's been laid up for a while, then a few hundred quid if you are lucky. Low miles does not really help that particular car, sadly!

Alot of negativity towards the car here! It's done 5,500 miles, that's going to count for something. To say it's worth as much as the tax and test have left is a bit harsh. Cars like Metro's often pop up on the bay with around 25000miles and push a grand. I'd pop it on eBay for maximum exposer, with a half sensible start price and don't make the mistake of putting a reserve on, unless you want to line Mr eBay's pocket with silver. Theres no guarantee it'll go to an enthusiast, but theres a good chance. There are alot of enthusiasts overseas for these sorts of cars, even the RHD ones.

I sold a very tidy and original 1985 BX 16RS a few years back, with 70k odd on the clock (can't remember for sure, I'm not into the low mileage game myself) and although it went for peanuts the guy who won it came from Northern Ireland and shelled out on various flights and ferries and trouble to come and get it. He was so excited he didn't even test drive it, just gave me the money and drove off with his sat nav. He was so quick I didn't get to tell him the only bit on the car that was faulty was the lighter socket!

Total weirdo though!
