2003 Renault Scenic gearbox issues

Hi All,

My sister has a 2003 (53 plate) Mk2 Renault Scenic 1.5DCI that before Christmas decided to eat it's clutch and gearbox.

They've been quoted a large amount (£2,500) to have it fixed by one garage but have decided to use a local place instead. These guys have removed the clutch (which was knackered) but this hasn't fixed the problem.

Does any one know where they can source either a replacement or reconditioned gearbox?

They are based in Newport Pagnell (Milton Keynes).

5 or 6 speed ?
Sounds like the first quote was from a main dealer, £1500 gearbox, £500 labour, oil and vat = £2500
Some of the boxes aren`t available as exchange although pretty much all the parts are. Worth rebuilding your existing?

It was a Mr Clutch place I think.

There garage have apparently suggested sending it away to be fixed which isn't an issue but I thought maybe if I can track down a recon box it might be cheaper/quicker

That's what I said. In the end they're using a local garage that they trust!
