Hi peeps,

I am finally about to replace my springs on the front of my GTI-6

First problem is trying to remove nut from anti roll link, the whole nut/bolt rotates when i turn it, as if it is burling inside the roll link itself....

advice please...... need to get the bugger off!

They are a right pain,a two nut job that takes ages! You will have to stop the pin turning.A torix socket in the end of the pin with a spanner on the nut is the correct way or if you going to replace the links, knock them off the balls and then use good big mole grips and undo the nut,OR!! just use a grinder its a lot quicker.

agreed, they can be a censored to remove

but as long as threads are really clean and wd40'd they should undo

ratchet spanner and torx screwdriver FTW

plenty of copperslip when you put it back together wink

I had this problem as you can't secure the shaft on some designs of them.

If you're replacing the drop links anyway, then just overtighten the nut, which will snap the thread - hey presto, it's apart.smile

Thanks for the advice guys.

I had to go down the path of destruction, that baby was not too keen on shifting. Under 10 quid for a pair of anti roll links swung it for me too, cheap as chips.
