Peugeot 307 whining gears

Hi,
I've recently bought a 2003 2.0 HDi 90 with 80k on the clock. The problem is the gearbox whines in 2nd and 3rd when off the throttle and the revs drop below 1900 ish. the box seems to work ok, no crunching etc.
I've seen somewhere on the internet that 'they all do that sir' and just replace the gearbox oil and put up with it. I can't really notice it in any other gear.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
