RS 200 oil top-up
Discussion
Just done 7500 miles in my Clio 200 bought new in May this year. I have just added 1 full litre of oil - the can they provide with the car - it took the lot to get back up to the correct level. Seems quite a bit, is this normal ? im guessing it is as they supply it with the car when new ?
It takes 5.2 litres so its not a big deal to need a litre after 7500 miles.
How has everyone been finding them for oil consumption? I changed the oil on mine last weekend after only 3500 miles. It was pretty black already which I suppose its expected to be but I didn't like the thought of waiting until the first service at 12000 miles to change it.

RS200? a clio? thats quite amusing.
theres only one RS200 and it aint a Renault.
If you find that amusing you need to get out more as you know, it is a Renault-Sport 200 so yes, its an RS 200 (but not as you know it) and it sounds better than "my little clio" theres only one RS200 and it aint a Renault.

The RS as in Ford RS200 and 2000 etc is an abbreviation of Rally Sport. My car has two R.S. badges on it, one on the front and one on the back The RS on my car is an abbreviation of Renault Sport.
A friend of mine drives a Maserati Gran Turismo. He calls it a G.T. (shock-horror) RS stands for Renault Sport, I cant be bothered to type Renaultsport Clio 200. They are abbreviations. Pretty simple really.

well i have never heard of anyone abbreviating the Maserati and calling it just a GT or a Renault Sport clio being given the wrong moniker RS200 which is a different car. No need to get so uptight or angry/abusive about it, but it is what it is and it aint no RS200.
angry/abusive ? I have not been either, I'm just a bit puzzled really why you could be bothered to bring this up. When I mention my car in conversation, I call it a Renault Sport Clio 200, RS200 I agree could imply I have a Ford which believe me is a car I don't want/like. When I write it down, I abbreviate it to RS, it's just a quick way. Everyone who has answered my original question knows what i'm talking about when I abbreviate it to RS. My friend calls his Maserati the GT for example, "i'm blew a Scooby off today in my GT"
RS on my Clio short for Rnaultsport
RS on this Rally Sport 200 short for Rally Sport
Enjoy your Scooby and I'll enjoy my Rs 200. Life is too short to worry about things like this !

Anyway whatever, at least you do admit it implies you might have a Ford, but then to say "a car of which you dont like/want?" that is sheer lunacy. Anyway i hope you are enjoying it, i hear they are great fun for a fwd hatch.

well i never knew they actually put an RS badge on the backof those clios, but then it would be an RS Clio, an RS200 being a different car. Does your friend call his car a Maserati GT400? having to state the horsepower.

Mate, the car is amazing fun, out-handles my old Elise and anything else i've owned. As for the Ford RS200, I would have one but purely for the investment. I appreciate what a fantastic car it was but honestly, I just dont like them !

Yeah but, no but...Not getting uptight, but you unfortunately came across as a bit rude to what's generally a very lighthearted section of PistonHeads
And for the record of the topic, Renault themselves abbreviate the Renault Sport brand into "RS". It's hardly a crime and by the way, I'm surprised you didn't correct the OP by saying Ford called the "RS 200" after "Rally Sport".
...because they actually named it, from "Rallye Sport".
And to the OP - that oil consumption on a new unit is fine. They can be known to use a pint of oil per 3000miles. Just monitor it weekly - ideally, before every use but that's not always convenient.

.
The clio has RS on the back so "Clio RS" is fine with me, but the RS200 is another car entirely and not badged "Rallye Sport 200". Audi also use RS badging as do Porsche, but they dont then state the bhp after the RS badge. It is an RS2 or an RS4, RS6 not an RS4444 etc.
Please read my last post, they are great cars but lets not start naming cars after other cars, unless its is the spiritual successor/modern equivilent of such a car.

bloody hell rb5230 I bet you're a fantastically interesting conversationalist at parties!
if by your meaning of "parties" you are actually talking about 1 on 1 chat scenarios but giving it the exact same name even though its different then yes, thanks. rb5230 said:
