Good morning fellow PH'ers,

My girlfriend drives an '03 1.6 Clio, and this morning as she was winding her merry way into work at the crack of dawn the auto headlights came on, but none of the dash lights (clocks, centre console etc)... everything else worked fine, but needless to say she was worried that at some point down the country lanes the headlights would decide to turn themselves off!

Last night there was another little gremlin too, lights were on, and every time she pressed the brake pedal the rear fog light icon on the dash would flicker on... I'm thinking that the two problems are in some way connected...

Can any of you guys help please? I've checked the fuses, and the lights themselves and there's nothing immediately obvious that I can see...

Cheers

Steve

The joys of french electronics! Simulour thing happend to me where my front lights worked but had no rear or dash board lights. Turned out to be the stork, sounds like the same problem. Cost me about £60 for a new one.

Check see if side and rear lights are working, if only one side then fuse blown. If none working then either switch or check that a relay has not been knocked out of place under dash on n/s, common thing.
Foglamp warning coming on with brakes sounds like poor earth or connection on o/s rear lamp.

Thanks for your help chaps... I think it's more likely to be a poor earth contact rather than anything else... evrything seems (touching wood!) to be normal again now... watch this space!!

Cheers! thumbup

The rear lamp connectors are a bit crap. They tend to work better if not pushed on all the way, for some reason.

Also, just make sure the relays are all plugged in properly, under the passenger foot well/dash.
