The brother in law has a Gti-6 sat in his garage the top end went about 2 years ago and it has sat there ever since as he purchased an e46 M3 not long after we have both been mulling over the sad waste and how we should maybe use it for track days .

How hard will it be to fix the top end ourselves and apart from stripping it out what else can we do to release some ponies for track day fun , I have heard supercharging can see some really good gains .

Rebuilding a top end is relatively easy as long as your methodical. Won't cost too much either! Like you say stripping it down, getting some coilovers (and having them set up properly) also decent tyres and brakes are a must. Excessive Power isn't really worth (it'll cost a fortune turbo/supercharging it) get some professional tuition, then all this combined you can laugh at all the monies worth you can see in your mirrors smile

Ok sensible advice , any recommended / known good brake/sus/tyre setups money not a serious issue i think the BIL will still want to supercharge it in time but makes sense for the other stuff to be done first .

You need to ask on HERE

There's a bunch of the guys from the club coming to Oulton next Friday for the Trackaction-Online trackday if you want to see how they go.
