Twice today, when I turned the engine off on my Vel Satis, the hazard lights came on and wouldn't go off. (A Vel Satis is essentially a cross between an Espace and a Laguna, hence just putting 'Renault' in the thread title as it may be a wider problem)

Turned engine on and off several times and pressed Haz button repeatedly in both modes but they still wouldn't go out. Eventually, I had to leave the car parked with them flashing as I had to get to an appointment. Came back, started car, pressed button again a few times, then pressed and held and they finally went out.

Second time, when I got home, took about six or eight presses of the button to turn them out.

Turned the engine off between these two occurences and it was fine though.

Anyone know if this is a subtle fault code? No other dash lights or announcements visible.

I've only heard of the switches themselves failing/sticking on.

Never experienced an electrical fault related to the car being turned on or off though!

email me your VIN and I'll search ACTIS to see if there are any known incidents of this.

Cheers - YHM.

I've never used the hazard switch - the only 'local' power source I was using today was the12V supply in the armrest 'box' to power a Satnav; any wiring links between the two?

Still doesn't explain why they wouldn't turn off when pressed though.

Hey man, checked ACTIS today - nothing flagging up as relevant to your symptoms.

Strange one - never heard of that! Perhaps, it is alarm based?
