Friend of mine is interested in purchasing a good example. Any information on numbers built would be appreciated and any sspecific areas on the car to look at other than general rust etc. Were the cars breathed on by Williams or were they standard road cars badged as a special edition? Any comments appreciated.

As you've mentioned rust is the biggest issue, the rear arches get munched up. Gearboxes can also be a week point, engines are usually strong.

Difference between Williams versions: http://www.williamsclio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?... As you can see there were 482 Williams 2 sold in the UK.

Williams F1 had nothing to do with the construction of the car, that's just where the name comes from. They are NOT however just a special edition with a fancy badge.

Oh and mine is currently for sale on PH, it's the premium advert one for £2,500.

Rea wheel arches is where the rust tends to start. But they are good cars if looked after. I wish I still had mine.
0-60 wasn't very good due to gearing but so much fun for so little money.

As said above, get yourself onto www.williamsclio.co.uk & tell them I sent you, they'll look after you then tongue out

Williams was just the name they gave the cars, they were built so the works rally team could make use of the 2.0l engine & a few other bits & bobs, but to do that the FIA rules stated that a certain number of road cars with that engine & basic chassis setup had to be made & sold by the manufacturer before they was allowed to compete with them

That's mine :-) It's a great example, even if I do say so myself.

Been tracking a couple on E bay and they just don't sell which really surprises me.One of the cars seemed to be a minter and didn't get north of £1,750! How cheap is that? Also can't believe how many owners these cars have one had 11 owners in 15 years!
